No no no, not like chopsticks! Just slide the spatula under it from the left hand side, slide all the way to the wall, and slide it up
I tried both a pitchfork and a small shovel today, and neither of them fit. Itās difficult b/c the opening isnāt very wide, plus the ceiling is quite low. I really do need some Go-go Gadget Arms!
FA, that thing looks really cool! Unfortunately, I donāt know either an electrician or anyone w/super-high ceilings. sigh This is so frustrating! Where are those guys who got baby Jessica out of the well when ya need 'em?
Use bbq tongs, duct tape each end to an un-attached broom handle, and itās like giant gripper tongs? Maybe?
Seriously. What about the grabber thingy that is for the elderly who canāt bend down anymore? I think someone else mentioned it earlier in the thread
Wait, did you try a hoe yet? BTW, If I were the barn owner I would slap a board across the top once your saga is over.
Seriously, Iād go in when the barn owner is gone, pull out the bottom board, rescue the soap, and screw/nail the board back in. And yes, definitely put a board across the top!!
So, Iām dying for an update ā was the soap liberated?!!
We. Must. Know. !!!
No, itās still in there!
Itās waaaaaaaay down in there, so I need something long  but the ceiling is also quite low. I still havenāt tried the spear-fishing thing yet, though, so thereās still hope (Iām usually running out the door trying to remember to bring this and that and the other, and somehow the steak knife and duct tape just donāt make the cut!).

I did try that! I stood on a folding chair (that very nearly collapsed under me) and stuck my arm w/the grabby thing as far down as I could, and it was still too short.
What if you used a couple of sticks or something, poked them into the gap between the lowest boards, and lifted the soap up a little bit, then stuck a piece of cardboard or something through so the soap couldnāt fall back down. Then move up to the next board and do the same thing. It would be slow, but it might work.
That sounds complicated!
Libby, can you switch to metal jars to avoid any further baby-Jessica-stuck-in-a-well type situations? If it was metal, I could just stick one of our giant magnet-on-a-stick things in there and voila!

Good luck figuring out an uncomplicated way to get it out!!

Fire rescue? They get kittens out of trees, so surely they could get saddle soap out of a wall, yes?
OMG, this would have driven me to insanity by now
Poor, innocent soapā¦
Any luck?
Do you have a wholesale price if I can get my local tack store to carry it? Or would you want to sell it on consignment or how would that work?

Hah, it would probably work, but what with those 18 horses dying in a barn fire, I think calling fire rescue might be tempting fate⦠not to mention your BO would be scared out of her mind if she saw fire trucks at her barn!
I really want to try to get that soap out myself!
Another ideaāwhat if you used a pair of hemostats (or something similar)⦠go into the gap between the bottom two boards, clamp the lip of the jar, tie a long string to the handle of hemostats, feed the string up out the top, and pull it up.
Or you could start by tying the string to the hemostat, lowering it down through the top, and catching it at the bottom to clamp the jar.
Amastrike, youāre more than welcome to come on down and rescue my soap! I have had zero luck, although I am admittedly not too creative with this kind of thing. Obviously!
It is kind of driving me crazy knowing that itās in there.
