Best importers from Europe to deal with?!

Ok seasoned importers, I need your info! I’ve found my critter in Europe and am trying desperately to get him here ASAP. (Turns 2 end of April). Who is the best you have dealt with communications wise??
I’ve had some email corespondence with two, but neither is quick to get back to me. I’m on a tight timeline and need to get things cracking!! Lol!!

Any thoughts?? Would be shipping to NY likely as there is not enough traffic to Canada to likely make it here on time (if I have a hope in he11 of that).

Thanks folks!!!

Maybe try posting in the hunter jumper forum.

It depends on from where you are going to import.
Names that are always mentioned are Klatte, Peeden etc. No need to go to hunter Forum, here should be enough people to share experiences. There have also already been quite a few threads on this in this forum. Search for Import.

The gelding that came to us from Holland a year ago, our one and only import to date, was shipped via Horseflight. The seller arranged it. All was very smooth, through Miami.

In the past I have spoken to the folks at Dutta, who were cordial and most importantly prompt to get back to me. While they come well-recommended, I haven’t personally used them.

Where is your horse located? I know a few reliable shippers and can ask them to act quickly.

Harrie

We used Dutta to import our Irish Sport Horse. Very professional; horse arrived in super condition. Highly recommend.

Global out of NY goes 2 x a week from Europe to NYC and are wonderful to deal with. Dutta is a top class shipper as well. Both are international and go many places

Have used and would recommend:

Mersant

IRT

and

Peden

i used dutta and was very happy even sent me a pic in quart.

Klatte/Dutta

where are you located? Lupe Marquez at Apollo Equine (LAX) can get it done and she’ll get you a good price. I’ve gotten the quotes myself before & she’s beat the best quotes I found independently (even from same shippers!).

Even if you’re not going thru LAX, she can get it done.

oh and congrats on your new boy!

Second Klatte and Dutta. Also consider HFR International

Thanks guys! Pony in question is in Ireland at the moment. Have avail shipping to Amsterdam when needed. Would be coming through NY to Canada.

Oliver Cooper at Eddie Brennan Ltd got our three here; he was incredible! Kept me UTD on everything, handled all the paperwork, hauled them to the airport and even sent a video of their box being loaded into the plane! Shoot me an email, I still have his cell #.

I have imported 3 horses from Holland. I dealt with Horse Service Int for the shipping and I was very satisfied and they shipped from Amsterdam to Toronto. You could contact Peter at 011-31-773984545. There is also an agent in Toronto at 1-800-208-9409 that could help you out: Carolyn.

There is also European Horse Service but I didn’t use them. Their number is 011-32-50626247

Good luck

I have brought a half dozen horses from Ireland in the past 6 mos with Global, into NY and Miami. NY was a little less money. Ask for Wayne.

Another vote for Dutta here.

ETA: If your horse is flying into NY, are you quarantining at the facility in New Jersey? I was a little surprised at the bill for that, although it could just be the going rate.

Sounds like the OP is trying to get her colt flown in before needing the CEM quarantine. Thus the urgency.
