Best off the rack tall boots

I know that there are already threads about tall boots, just wondering what are peoples favorites for the hunters: parlanti, tucci, sergio grasso, ariat, etc. Also, if you prefer a specific model.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, I am coming off of custom tall boots but it is time for new boots and I would rather be able to walk out of the store with them!

Thanks Again

Tucci! I’m buying a saddle right now, but my next purchase are a pair of Marilyns <3

What’s the shape and height of your leg? Each brand fits differently. What’s your budget?

Ariats have worked well for my daughters. Different heights and builds and have each found a pair that fit them perfectly. Everyday: Ariat Heritage Contour Zip Field Boot. For Showing: Ariat Quantum Crowne Pro Zip Field Boot.

Some riders at our barn have bought Ariat Monacos for showing and like them.

My budget would be up to 1200, anymore than that and I would just pay for customs and rush them. I currently have custom parlanti’s which I love and have had for a long while, and have brand new custom tuccis unfortunately and fortunately I’ve lost weight and enough that they and my parlanti’s are far too big.

Sorry I forgot to add my leg size… I would say average size calf width but tall in height.

I LOVE my Sergio’s. I have the imperia. They are tall- I’m wearing heel lifts

I had Ariat Crowne Pros for my everyday field boots for years. They always fit nicely and were very comfortable. I invested in a pair of Monacos in December and I hate them. They continue to rub blisters on my ankle almost every ride. Never again.

I guess I’m the opposite of maneevent  I love my Ariat Monacos so much that I’m trying to decide how I’m going to patch them up now that they’re starting to show wear 4 or 5 years into using them as my nice boots. I have many other brands (Vogels and Sergio Grassos, among others), but nothing comes anywhere near my Monacos!

With that being said, I’ve seen a trend with Ariats where the early models are great and then the quality goes down over time. I got mine when the Monaco was first released (before they improved the zipper quality), and I have no idea if the newer ones are as nice as the ones I have.

I would agree with PNWJumper. The Ariat Monacos are a super nice boot for about $900. They are however, not a boot that I’d wear as my every day boot. Very soft leather.

When I tried them on, I think they ran smaller in the calf than average.

You might want to also try the Treadstep. My understanding is that they were having zipper problems at one point, but that issues is resolved on the new boots, I think.

For up to $1200, you could try semi custom der dau boots and rush them. I did that and got mine in three weeks, fitting perfectly!

I have Beval boots. Very well made boot.

Monaco’s are the most comfortable boot I’ve ever ridden in. But they are not worth their price because – for me – the leather rubs off in spots, stitches come out and the zippers can break. But since I bought both my pairs on Ebay at around $200 each for nearly new boots, that makes me less crabby when I have to pay for repairs.
I also just bought a pair of Volants on Ebay, which are even more comfortable than the Monacos (though they seem a little taller since they don’t fall as much). My advice is to find a pair that fits at the tack store then watch Ebay.

I would strongly recommend AGAINST Tredstep. While they look nice, mine have done awful things to my heels. They are fine to ride in, but they are not very durable and don’t try walking in them. I currently have about 5 band-aids on my feet from blisters. I also feel like mine are made of two different types of leather… hence the reason why I am stalking this post  Just wanted to issue a warning.

I love my Ariat boots. I think they are lovely, but I am in the market for a different brand as mine don’t have the Spanish tops that I would love to have on a pair of show boots.

We stopped carrying Monacos because they just weren’t lasting people long enough and for $900 they expected something they could wearing all the time and get years of use out of them.

Have you taken your boots into a shoemaker? The guy we work with can do amazing things with boots so its worth a shot to see if your boots can be made rideable.

I was planning on taking my tuccis in to see if they can be taken in, but I’m not holding my breath about perfection. Also, I’m thinking it will take time to have them remade! That’s why I thought off the rack would be nice and then the others could be taken in and could be the backup or the off the racks could become the backups.

I love my DeNiro’s

YES. Mine look nice but I wore through the calf (where the stirrup leather hits) in exactly 8 shows and maybe 5-10 at home rides. More specifically, the stitching that holds the elastic panel and the leather wore out, then causing both materials to rip. They are currently patched. Unacceptable to me.

That’s is a shame about the monacos. I’ve not heard of Deniro’s before I will look them up  thank you everyone for all of your help!

Deniros. I ordered every off the rack boot 9 months ago to compare fit, quality, and leather. Deniros won hands down. I liked them even better than parlantis and Sergios.
