Best places to live, climate-wise

Probably California…

As far as the East Coast goes, it depends on what you consider extremes. Up here in MD we say that, if you don’t like the weather, wait 5 minutes. I know that VA, MD, DE, PA, and to some extent NJ and southern NY have similar climates, though of course the southern end of these sates tends to be milder in the winter and hotter in the summer. Last summer in MD was rainy and mild. This summer has been beautiful…at least up till August. I don’t consider the winters harsh…I usually wish for more snow! Give me a blizzard any day! Fall and spring can be screwy, spring more than fall. Sometimes the temps get down into the 40’s at night in late April. I would say that the mid-Atlantic states are probably the most moderate in the east coast.

Ah, but do discuss the climate!

Florida…it’s no vacation. Unless of course you like 120 degree weather with 183% humidity that sucks the very slobber from your horse’s mouth!!

That’s it, pack your bags honey, we’re moving to Santa Barbara!

Actually I’ve always been told that California has some of the best weather. San Diego, San Francisco, et al…Warm days, cool nights, nice breezes, sunny, dry.

I live on Long Island. The seasons are VERY noticeable, as far as when they hit. Hot, often muggy, often pleasant summers. This summer we got a bit of it all (an unbearable 100 degree+ week followed by dry and low 80’s). Falls are gorgeous! I love Long Island falls…cool, crisp, and with the leaves changing.
Sometimes we get Hurricane watches, but by the time the storms reach us it’s pretty weak.

Winters suck here. It’s cold…often bitter, with enough snow and blizzards to keep you guessing. Traffic is bad here too.

Spring is ok, but I like to think of Spring as an extension of Winter. It’s cold/cool and rainy/muddy.

EVERYTHING is super expensive here. Board runs from $500-$1000 for the good places. Land is scarce and expensive…but our beaches kick butt. Oh, yeah…the energy bill will cost you an arm and a leg too.

Tell me…why do I still live here?

Basically it stinks no matter where you go:
UP north (MN,VT, NH, Maine…you get blizzards)
Down South (GA, FLA, AL etc. you get crippling humidity along with floods)
Midwest you got tornadoes…
Deep South (TX, AZ,) you got unbearable, deadly heat.
West coast has mudslides, rolling blackouts, and earthquakes…

Ok, who wants to fins a deserted tropical island outside the hurricane belt and form our own state…like Hawaii but less pricey

I think Tsawwassen, B.C. has the best climate around. (Along with Ladner, and my ol’ stomping grounds-White Rock). It’s actually called ‘Sunny Tsawwassen’ and gets much more sunlight and less rain than other places on the Lower Mainland. Mind you, it’s rarely too hot, and never humid, with the breeze blowing off the ocean. The winters are fairly short and mild, sometimes you’ll get snow, and you’ll get enough rain to keep the fields green.

Van Island is also great. It gets way less rain than Vancouver area, but unfortunately this year they haven’t recieved enough rain–everything is yellow and they have tight water restrictions. I love the west end of the island, with it’s rainforests and stormy beaches and whales.

quote:
In the Summer it it a million degrees with equal humidity, In the Fall it is only a 1,000 degrees in the winter just as your blood has thinned out for all the heat it is freezing cold and wet and just plain nasty and again in the Spring you have crazy weather one day it is freezing out the next it is hot then that night the temp drops to 40 degrees.

Sounds like Florida!

Wow, ErinB, Texas and Florida sound EXACTLY the same! Gotta love those grasshoppers!

Even though it doesn’t really bother me much, I like the heat (hate the cold!)…

The only thing that makes Florida better is that they have a better horse thing going for them…we have cowboys! (Hey, guys DO look better in Wranglers than Tailored Sportsman’s…IMHO )

Man, I love my state!

Junior Clique!

Where is High Springs FL?
I have a condo in Delray Beach and
my best friend lives in Palm City.
I think I’d consider Loxahatchee or
Wellington.

hmmm… I guess that would explain it!
