I liked Thomas altho he didn’t believe me in 2010 when I emailed him about a certain rescue. Then he discovered it on his own and tore into her almost a year later. Didn’t his wife work for the government? If so, she would have discovered the name of the mystery caller, and then could have prosecuted him/her. They can trace telephone calls as easily in the UK as they do in the USA. LUDs are easy to get with a subpoena.
I think some trainwrecks are funny where no one gets hurt. I don’t like the “R” rated ones so much. I prefer the ones that should be labeled “No animals or humans were harmed in this trainwreck.” Like when kookicat survived the child in her pasture and the crazy crayola trainer only killed a gate, not the horse or blind alter.

That stuff doesn’t belong anyplace. People who bring stuff off line and out into real life should be perma banned. I’m not talking about concerns for welfare, but harassment and stalking.
Don’t think this one has been mentioned yet: How about the horses that got swapped in transit by a confused shipper. The one that was supposed to go to FL ended up at the Gulfport show and visa - versa. And I think I remember that a poster here, looked at pictures from Gulfport and figured it out?
Well, the drama that spills into real life, especially when it involved phone vs computer is really hard to police as moderator on a forum.

That is the one. She didn’t go silently. There was some talk even at that time whether the board would survive.
Eh, Louise quit too, shortly before Erin did…not like it’s a high paying job, and IIRC it was in addition to a regular position at COTH. Like the new Mods, more of a volunteer effort in addition to regular duties.
The decision was made going forward that the mods would remain anonymous to avoid some of the personal attacks and crap that went with the position.
The board survived and some who left or were invited out and ended up on other sites have come back under different user names-and behave much better then in the old days. Because it is still the only serious board for competition horses and their riders who compete.
Speaking of train wrecks, that farrier drama thread here on Off Course rivals some of the best farrier battles on Horse Care. We’ll see where that one goes when the various recreational substances kick in later tonite-that’s when they really get good…although the 8am PDT posting by a farrier calling everybody he disagreed with “morons”, untrained horse “pelts” and refered to “cowboy whack and tack” shoeing was probably a sober utterance. One hopes.
Should be fun tonite.

Why does that offend me? I rarely get offended, but it strikes me as the type of word used by people who dislike horses. Kind of like a woman hater calling women skirts or, well…you know the word I’m thinking of.

OP has a pasture puff she obviously hasn’t worked with on standing for the farrier. Mare double barreled the farrier??? Yeah, he somehow ended up in a bad spot. But unless he was back there shooting her in the arse with a BB gun too, lifting her hoof higher than she liked was no reason for a horse to double barrel anything. That mare would’ve had a CYJ moment so detailed she’d be seeing the actual man in white robes.
Farrier acted silly in texting photos of his bare arse bruise.

Yes he’s acting obnoxious on purpose…and I’m not supporting that but I can certainly see his reason behind it when a handful of people say, “Farrier was a jerk! He should expect to get kicked in his job! Why get mad to be kicked???” If someone told me, “If you train a horse you should expect it to attack you so stop complaining!” I;d be more than a little pissed off too.
People, teach your horses to stand for a farrier or else cocktail them first or get stocks to stand them in. Because NO a farrier’s job does not include expecting to be double barreled by a bitchy mare without manners.
I am only on page 10 of the crayola trainer thread and I am HOWLING over here. Between the crayon letter, the crayon contract dream and “Asspantio” it has given me a serious case of the giggles! I am literally sitting here laughing until I cry. It’s been a crappy two weeks and I really needed a laugh. Coth comes through!!! Can’t wait to see what happens next…

MB, if you look at his previous posts in other threads, that just appears to be his overall MO. :lol: Or, he doesn’t realize how he sounds. I know a few farriers (hopefully, not this guy, but it’s entirely possible since he’s in the area) that have a GREAT sense of humor - but if typed verbatim into a COTH post, would probably sound equally as crass. Hopefully he’s one of those!
For the record, the Chief Moron DOES think any horse that behaves so impolitely should have a visit from Jesus, post haste.
