Best threads/trainwrecks on COTH?

Ahhh, “Asspantio.” The funniest typo of a screen name evah! Poor Appassionato, everyone called her that afterwards. She’s a good sport about it. Too bad she’s rarely on anymore now that she’s horseless.

heinz…I’m just gobsmacked at all the nutters saying, “A farrier should expect to get kicked!” :o

And those saying the farrier was stupid for not watching the mare. What the heck was the owner doing? Bending over underneath/behind a horse does not make the best vantage point to watch their body language.

And how much you wanna bet that owner isn’t doing a thing to “come to Jesus” that mare, train any manners into her or working with her regularly to acclimate the mare to having her feet handled? So far everything is the farrier’s fault, she did nothing wrong. Betting she also tells the next new farrier that the mare kicked but it was all the previous farrier’s fault.

A cow kick is one thing, a double barrel landing in the wrong place can very easily kill a person.

And just because you have too many rescue horses does not mean you pasture them without teaching them handling skills and ground manners. Pasture does not = don’t have to work with them.

yep, that text with the photo was ridiculous. Yep, new farrier poster is being ridiculous.

but the most ridiculous is the majority of the ignorant rude replies on that thread.

Yeah, I’d be mortified if one of mine kicked AT the farrier, let alone made contact. None of mine have ever kicked, and truthfully I think they’d never even dream of it.

Maybe the pictures were a hint? Or a proposition?

ROTFL!!!

Asspants. I miss her - she was indeed a good sport.

Re: farriers - my horses stand quietly or there is hell to pay.

Even so… an accident can happen. A local farrier was injured a while back, freak accident but he couldn’t work for a while. Local owners put on a little fundraising event for him to help him out with living expenses.

What a bunch of morons.

A farrier I know stood in his bathroom shirtless with his jeans unbuttoned and took a pic of himself and used the big hairy belly hot redneck mess as his FB PROFILE pic…

Could be…were there flowers wedged in the crack?

Ya know, in some ways it’s refreshing and liberating when people have zero hang-ups about themselves.

And in some ways it’s horrifying.

Are you thinking of Erin? She really got her knickers in a knot if someone critisized animal rights groups, HSUS particularly.

Not long after she quit it turned out that she was writing a book on horse care for none other than…HSUS[/QUOTE]

Wasn’t she also involved in a cat rescue? I seem to recall she would instantly lock anything not horse-related… except when she felt like starting a thread about cats herself.

Who else remembers the time around the holidays when she locked a thread asking a question about wooden trees versus plastic trees? She didn’t bother to actually open the thread to see that it was about SADDLE trees, not Christmas trees.

Classic!

My favorite train wrecks are the ones that have stellar recipes. With this most recent cold front, I’m dying for some new wild game recipes. My neighbor is smoking a wild hog for us, it’s smells great but I’m thinking an apple & walnut type chutney would make it even better. I’m using a cranberry and walnut recipe, but it is for bird, not hog.

The sad thing is, there are people and their friends out there that expose their equistrian stupidity, and allow train wrecks to happen. It’s colorful but tragic.

My favorite is the Spousal Abuse and Horse Meat thread; just love the recipes!

I still haven’t bought Duke’s Mayonase however, that seems to be a COTH favorite.

Dear Whoever Mentioned “Child in my Pasture”:

I want my entire afternoon back!

LOL, yup that’s my all time favorite!

I don’t want to say favorite since it involved the horrific deaths of 2 (3?) horses, but I was completely obsessed with the original Wild Eyed & Wicked thread. I looked for a link but can’t seem to find it.

Anyone remember “TREE” ?

He was treated badly here?? He violated every board rule and got away with it forever!

I do believe he was banned when he had the nerve to question a Mod with some nasty words.

No one really knows if he was ever called at home or not. Remember, you can’t believe everything you read on a public forum.

I am convinced that the COTHers solved the case!

But, his banning resulted from his having been called in a hostile manner by a poster here. The facts were not disputed in anything I saw or read. I was told the board policy and logic by a moderator.

It’s like an involuntary reflex - I cannot even THINK of the name “Asspantio” without shaking with laughter!

I need to write that down and look at it every time I am having a bad day.

yeah they are like a weird kinda “cigarette and pillow talk” to the trainwrecks aren’t they?
