Who is the best horse transporter from Eastern Canada to Kentucky? Ultimately they are going to California but lots of people pick up in Kentucky. Has anyone ever flown a horse from Canada?
Jill, I sold a horse to Alaska this fall and American transported them to Washington then they flew on an equine transport up to Anchorage. Call American…they would know how to get ahold of the air shipper.
I second Perry’s. :yes::yes::yes: Dependable, personable, resourceful.
Perrys has shipped multiple times for me. Def. recommend!
I have used Perry transport in the past and they were great to deal with.
I have also heard good things about IHT (International Horse transport) as well…here is their info www.inthorse.com
Perry ships mainly out of Ontario. What province are you talking about? It would help to know. From the Maritimes, it would probably be cheaper to ship down through Maine, rather than have the horse go to Ontario to hook up with Perry. That being said, Perry Transport is a reputable firm and good to deal with.
nother PerryT two thumbs up
International Horse Transport (IHT) shipped a horse for me from Ontario to Florida this spring and I couldn’t be any more pleased with the experience. I also had the option of having her shipped to Lexington and then having another company bring her down to Ocala, but I went straight through with IHT. My horse arrived on time and in great condition.
Another thumbs up for Perry’s…but I also don’t know if they do runs to the east coast or not…
I used this transport company to bring my 2 yr. old from MD last year. She came in good condition and I know he goes east and west and into teh States. Here is his info

I have used International Horse Transport and was very happy.
I sold a mare in foal to the US (from Canada) this year; people “in the know” told me to use International Horse Transport. I had a potential client earlier in the year and I tried very hard to get a quote from IHT. Could not, for the life of me, get a return call and a quote from them.
The person who ultimately bought my mare also tried in vain to get a return call and a quote from them. She ultimately used Perry and was very happy with them. I had previously heard some criticism of them.
Just my most recent experience…
Has anyone heard of McLemore’s?
These guys are good. Dave is a super nice and a real horseman. Someone bought a horse off me about 5 years ago and used Rock Solid to get the horse home.
Whatever you do, do NOT use a guy named Duane Harnish. ON two occasions he did not pick my horse up at the designated time and left the seller waiting in the cold for four hours. He was full of excuses and from my experience he cannot be trusted and is not worth the agony.

Yes I used them to ship from VA to CO and they were awesome - the horse had never been shipped before and he arrived in perfect condition. Highly recommend them.
Another thumps up for Perry…
We use Duane Harrish all the time and he is AMAZING!!! He’s got a wonderful rig that opens up in to full box stalls, he’s always delivered our horses and ponies in a timely manner and keeps track of their food and water intake along the way and lets the owner know how much they’ve had. He’s also very gentle with the horses and patient if they are having trouble loading. His prices are also very competitive.
We ship horses to the US on a regular basis for the last 10 years, and you quickly learn that the shippers can normally only give you a close timeline estimate as to delivery and pick up dates and times as things can change if the weather becomes bad, a problem arises with picking up the horse before yours, etc. We’ve never had a problem with Duane EVER!
IHT is also very good to work with too. Fed-Ex will also fly horses across country.

McLemore’s are wonderful, but they don’t go to Canada. I have used them for many years, and I’m an extremely satisfied customer and would not hesitate to recommend them. They haul for me regularly.
I have used Perry’s once – they brought me 5 ponies on a load, four of which had just been imported. I was neither happy nor unhappy with their contact, customer service, etc, but the rig they arrived in was ancient, and you could see daylight all the way around the bottom from the inside. It was not something I would consider safe, and I certainly would not have used them had I known my animals were going to be shipping in something like that – though chances are, that particular trailer has been long retired from use.
As you may know, I recently imported three ponies from Scotland. I had a VERY difficult time getting them home from their quarantine in Ontario. Shipper after shipper either didn’t respond, couldn’t do it or wanted and arm and two legs (one guy wanted $11,500 to bring the three ponies to Oregon!!!). In the end I ended up using Mark Struthers, who had THE most fabulous drivers. I’ve received many ponies over the years, and these by FAR arrived in the best condition of anything that has EVER arrived. I HIGHLY recommend him. Here is the contact info:

The price was very reasonable also. I will definitely use him again for anything coming from Canada. He’s at the top of my list for Canadian shipments.
