Big Announcement for Iron Horse Farm (minor update pg2)

Drumroll…

Iron Horse Farm is moving!

We have purchased a farm in Paris, Ky (closing on Monday!) where we will be moving the broodies and restarting our breeding dreams. We are truly excited about this amazing opportunity to restore a 160yr old Colonial home and to use the 13 stall barn for breeding and to continue to offer layup facilities and medical board.

Hoping I can find a way to leave my old address linked to the new one since I have always said that any horse born on Iron Horse Farm can come home if they are ever in a situation that warrants it.

We are researching the farm, most recently the home to Karrington Stables and have found that it was home to Turney Bros Racing, which actually produced a Derby horse in the early 1900s. Most recently the farm was used as a rental for WEG and sadly went into forclosure.

Let the restoration begin!!!

Sounds majorly exciting!

Let the farm be blessed and all who walk across her threshhold!

I’m really excited for you and Dave.

No, you cannot have Dior back.

Congrats!!! Best wishes for a happy and uneventful move for the girls

Congratulations Holly, that sounds wonderful.

Congratulations. Sounds like a beautiful historic horse heaven. I wish you all the best. (You sound, understandably, very happy!)

Congrats! Nice to have you in the “neighborhood”.

Yea! Thanks! I was hoping there would be some other Kentuck-ians on here!

Congrats Holly. Good luck with the move!

Welcome to the neighborhood!

How exciting! I hope everything goes smoothly.

Another welcome to the Bluegrass! Peg

Congrats!

Welcome! I was born and raised in Michigan and now live in Kentucky. You will love it here, and you are buying into an amazingly beautiful area. I made several trips over to Paris, KY this summer, as I had a horse rehabbing there. I took a peak at the WEG slideshow for your place. Wow!!! If I didn’t have my own place I would be campaigning to live over your garage, LOL!! You will love Kentucky!

Congrats! The farm sounds like it has some interesting history. How much land does it have?

Congratulations, Holly, and all the best to you in your new home.

Congrats!

The extra-miserable weather this year combined with the hay shortage has definately ignited a fire in me to return to the North West where I am from.

I hope your move goes smoothly.

ToiRider, lol, those pics made me drag my hubby to the front gates and cry until he called the realtor (if only I were kidding!). Actually, we are not getting it all. The bank split the property into 3 parcels and we are buying the one with the house, garage and thirteen stall barn on 10 pastured acres. We found out on our last trip down that the bigger parcel with the other barn was also sold and the the owner is a “German lady”. Crossing my fingers for warmblood neighbors! If I’m not going to grow my own hay, I guess I don’t need the giant chunk of land anymore.

Your Michigan house is so cute inside. Does this one require a lot of work, or are you happy with it?
