Bit of Britain and Tack of the Day?

Anyone order anything from either of them recently? I was not a customer prior to the sale of both but it looks like there have been some major issues since they sold. But they both have a product that I want at a much better price point than other retailers. I don’t mind if it takes a week or two to ship out but months isn’t acceptable. Hoping someone else can chime in if they have braved the sea of bad recent reviews.

A barnmate ordered boots from BoB and I guess it was slow and they had less than stellar customer service when it was not what she expected (the image was of one boot style but they sent this year’s model that was different) but in the end, she got her refund so that’s something?

TotD deals are never that good IMEX and BoB got scary slow after being sold so I quit buying from them too. 🤷

The Tack of the Day sales are rarely good. It’s either a steep discount but it’s junk, or 5% off something that’s decent.

I haven’t ordered in years because the shipping is so unreliable and their customer service is BAD.

I wouldn’t buy a martingale stop from BoB. I returned an item; the refund took over a YEAR w repeated calls.

John Nunn sold Bit o’Britain and Tack of the Day 3 years ago. The names may be the same, but the company is not

Well they have a particular kind of breeches for 50% less than everywhere else. That kind of mark down makes me interested in 3 pairs or so! But if they arrive in more than a month I would be unhappy.

Yeah, I won’t buy anything from them since John Nunn sold the company. It takes forever for stuff to arrive and as @skipollo said, the quality is terrible. It’s a shame, as BoB used to be one of my go-to companies. Also, it was fun to see what TotD had on discount.

A year ago, I ordered fly sheets 3-4 weeks before I needed them. Figured it would be no problem.

I still didn’t get them. They were “in stock” but not actually in the warehouse. Customer care was very nice via email but I had a drop dead date and they couldn’t possibly accommodate. I cancelled and ordered from SmartPak…had in hand two days later.

If you have ZERO expectations on when you’ll actually get your stuff, the prices are certainly pretty good.

I ordered a helmet from BoB last year and it took almost 2 months to ship. It only shipped after I sent an email asking about shipping times. I had to send it back because it didn’t fit — luckily by that time, Riding Warehouse had it in stock and I could order from them. Side note: when I had to replace said helmet after a nasty fall, RW was so lovely to work with!

A barnmate ordered a bridle from TOTD a couple of months after they changed hands. She ordered a regular size and they sent a draft. If was a Nunn Finer at about half price. She got nowhere. She never got the correct size. I think she eventually gave up on getting a refund. My understanding is that they were handling products from a specific group of companies. They weren’t out looking for real bargains like the original TOTD. I dumped their links. If things turned around I knew it would be posted here.

Ordered Tredstep country boots from TotD. Took a few weeks to ship but they are lovely, as advertised and were a good deal. I didn’t need them in the first place so didn’t care when they showed up. For breeches, I’d get them as long as they were just because and not something that you need.

Another vote in favor of avoiding BOB!

Ditto on avoiding BoB. My bit order from 10 days ago is still “being handled”. No one answers the phone. email sent via website (no email addy given on website). Credit card already paid out. Wish I had known BoB had been sold. Should have checked COTH!!

You can respond to the emailed order confirmation, and they will respond. I found them very friendly.

I haven’t even gotten an email order confirmation. Have received ads etc… I did get this am a robot reply to my email inquiry. Hopefully it’ll get shipped soon…they were the only ones saying the had the bit in my requested size.

I’m so frustrated. They used to be good! I ordered a bunch of stuff from them not realizing they had no connection to John Nunn. They took my payment a week and a half ago, saying it would arrive in 8 days. They are still “handling” my order. Cannot get through to ANYONE there. Email, phone, chat bot, instant message. I used PayPal to order and cannot get resolution. Considering some action like BBB or a consumer group. Ugh. I don’t have that kind of money to throw around and order elsewhere. So disappointed. Hope others are doing better.

I got a response saying they are very busy after the holidays and they will get back to me in 2 business days. It’s been 4.

Sounds like maybe it’s gone to pot all together, but they were nice about a year ago :frowning:

So, my first order with the Tredstep country boots from TotD was very sloooooow, but subsequent orders have been super quick, and even when I have had to exchange an item, I got a quick refund credit and good communication. Overall, I guess I am pleasantly surprised. Just too bad they sold out of the BOT saddle pad I wanted.
