Bucas has snappy surcingles - thanks to a thumb injury earlier this year I’ve been wrestling with my inability to quickly connect T closures - unfortunately the chest has the Ts. No win! If my thumb isn’t back to normal strength by next blankie season I’m thinking of taking my horsewear collection to a creative tailor to put snappy clips everywhere. So much easier!!
The reason for that being the Rambo Wug is significantly larger sized than the Rhino Wug. My guy wears a 78" Rhino Wug with no fill, and a 75" Rambo Wug midweight.
I borrowed a Rambo Wug lite, size 78" before I bought his first Wug and I could bring the back edges together and overlap them by inches over his tail. I figured a 75" would be the size to buy. But the shop didn’t have a 75" Rambo Wug, so I got a 75" Rhino figuring same manufacturer, same style, same size. Wrong! I had to take it back and exchange it for a 78".
Having had my first horse snap himself to a fence with a horse facing spring snap I would never have that kind of snap on anything my horse was wearing in turnout. Fortunately my horse stood patiently waiting to be released, and another boarder noticed as she was leaving that he was standing in the same odd position that he had been when arrived to ride her horse.
I like the double snap, one ring best. T buckles second.
I distrust the plastic part of that new design because it gets very cold here for long periods of time, and plastic things like that tend to get brittle and snap because they are not designed for use in truly cold temperatures.
wow, I’m definitely a weirdo. I despise the snaps / V front on my Rambo duo. Between the monster snaps (which are no easier to do than the T locks even with mittens - problem’s the Velcro) and the rings all over the place (hood! extra ring for tail cord! extra surcingle! extra loop for STILL MORE VELCRO in front), what in the past was a lovely light simple blanket now weighs more than I do. And the T lock front fits my TB better.
Yep, turning into a princess…
Thanks for everyone’s feedback and ideas. I think I’m going to go with the regular t-locks. I know those work for this mare, so “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it.”
