Bling Brow Bands - Favorites?

I think it is time to get a browband for Pony. Does anyone have any favorites? I’d like to keep it under $100, which knocks out POH and some of the other bigger names. And it has to have PURPLE in it. Either a straight or V browband - he has a broad forehead, so the V actually does look good on him… Figure this can be a fun thread for admiring browbands - preferably with links to vendors!

I like the PS of Sweden prune browband https://www.psofsweden.com/en/browbands/browband-prune

I just saw a post saying Equiture had just come out with 2 new purple brow bands, or they do custom ones!

Second Equiture. Shipping from UK is only like $6. They also have matching stock pins. Very nice and blingy.

I only suggest this because I have not found a single browband that met the “aesthetics” I wanted –

if you are crafty, make it yourself – one of the most fun i ever had in one of my own DYI projects was making my own browband. i found a used browband at a tack shop that had those ugly 1980s white raised inserts on it (the ones popular with the NSH folk, looks like this), pulled out the white strip, went onto Firestone Gem’s website and picked out/selected the beads I wanted and made it myself. I selected a brass chain with onyx inserts, and also purchased topaz gem-stone studs – interspersed them across the channel with some superglue at both ends, and then threaded it into the browband.

I will say, pushing a leather needle through the leather was a herculean feat - it was NOT easy threading the nylon thread (holds the beads down into the channel) but the end result was worth the struggle.

All told, I think I spent ~$60 in parts. The browband was $10, the beads were IIRC, ~$40, and then the needle/threads/glue were under $10. I get compliments on it constantly and people can’t believe it’s “home-made”.

Of course, I say all this and don’t have the picture to back it up. I’ll snap a picture of it on my boy tonight for you.

As promised, but a little late:

Sorry for the not-great quality of the picture.

I second Dark Jewel. I have a spring/summer one and a fall/winter one - based on their color schemes. I ordered a second browband so I can have both ready to go instead of changing the strands out. I’ve also had several others at my barn ordered from there and they are all gorgeous.

These folks were fantastic to deal with and the browband is stunning! I ordered the Ocainista http://www.darkhorseonline.ca/brow-bands.html

They have nothing in purple, and nothing in cob sizes  Bummer!

Email them  Never hurts to ask

Love. Love. Love. My stonepony browbands

Ummm, I think you’ll be looking at more $ than what you stated. Faux crystals and gemstones are worth the extra $, IMO and they last for a long time and the gems/rocks are better set. Also, the leather tends to be better when you are looking at ~ $70-100, thus lasting longer.

Equiture! I have two, they’re stunning and they hold up so well! I’ve had one of their megabling browbands on my bridle (I use the same bridle for show and schooling) for a year and not a single crystal is gone. And extra bonus, they’re under $100, especially if you get one at the annual flash sale which occurs in February.

another equiture lover here. Great to work with and quality browbands.

Well, since I stated under $100, doesn’t that put me in that exact price range? Seems like people have had plenty of nice examples here in the $50 to $100 range… I’m not looking for a $25 browband… Under $100.

A third vote for Dark Jewel. I had planned to just pick out a stock pattern in a couple of colors I liked, but Amelia (think that’s her name) put together a ton of different beads/designs for me to look at in no time at all. I got a browband with two different beaded strings that can interchange. It’s been 5-6 years, and they are still going strong, even sitting in benign neglect in my non-climate controlled tack shed for months at a time. I believe I paid about $60 for the browband and two fully customized bead strings.

I poked around at the recommended sites myself as I am looking for another brow band. I wanted something dark so it draws attention with a little bling, but isn’t over the top and goes with anything. I really liked a lot of the stuff on the Equiture site and ended up ordering this one: https://www.equiture.biz/nightfall-and-jet

I liked that you can send them back for repair and there are extra stones in the event of a self-repair. Plus, they seem to come in 3 different options of straight, curved or v-shaped. There are at least 10 other brow bands I want from that site! If this one arrives and I like it well enough, I’ll definitely buy more in the future. Equiture also sells BR Bridles at a decent cost. This worked out well for me because I was looking to pick up a BR Southam Bridle in full size (had the cob, too small) but I am not crazy about the brow band it comes with. On that site you can purchase the bridle without a brow band, and I quite like that option. Lowers the cost, and allows you to choose something else while not ending up with a brow band you’ll never use. I’m in Europe, but other shipping options seemed reasonable.

I just ordered one from Equiture it looks lovely, I will let you know how I like it when I receive it!
