BLM Online Auction Starts tomorrow! Advice?

I was looking through the animals available (17 pages up right now). Many from Oregon and Wyoming are big and beautiful! 15 hands and up. Many Wyoming horses look like there is some draft in them. Lots of little bays and duns from Nevada, of course, but those Oregon and Wyoming horses have me dropping my jaw. My Mustang is from Nevada and she’s real gem, so nothing against the shorter ones.

We’re hoping they put up some burros or yearlings for us to consider.

There are some really talented people that take some of the older Mustangs and do well with them That’s above my paygrade, though.

I watched the video that was put out yesterday, and was quite struck by the white grey (very first) and even more by the baroque looking black gelding, I believe it was the third horse. Of course both are older at 12 & 13, and are sales authority horses, so not at the top of everyone’s list. I couldn’t help but daydream about what a lovely pair they’d make :lol:

That 9 year old gray 2286, I think. She’s looks like a nice solid one and not too tall.

7 year old black mare 2459. She looks like a short Percheron!

Okay, and my Charlie Brown Christmas tree is 9264. Little sorrel 2 year old mare with missing ears. Poor little baby! I just want to take her home, tame her, and love on her so she knows the world is good.

I’ve been trying to talk my partner into making the trek to pick 5505 up ever since his listing got posted. Old guy sure deserves a nice place to live out the rest of his years.

Man, I like 9531 and I could totally get my trainer’s place approved but then she also has to agree to another mouth. If there were some geldings, I could talk her into a new track pony…hmm…

They have several pick up locations. If we adopt, we will pick up in Mississippi.

We’re close enough to the facility that we could make a weekend trip out of it (or do it in a single day with lots and lots of coffee), but we’re also in a “just because we could doesn’t mean we should” time in our lives, so I think it would take an act of God to get my spouse on the same page.

Ok, not that I’m buying anything but how does it work when the horse is going through the online “adoption” bidding as sales authority OR adoptable? I thought sales authority horses were sold at a flat rate? Or does the highest bidder just get to choose between adopt + the incentive funds or titled free and clear, for whatever price they pay?

Not to hijack the thread but the Chincoteague pony auction is online this year for the first time. But a 12 hour drive (24 hour round trip) is just too far for me.
