Boarding Barns Dallas Texas

My DH and I will be relocating to DFW…most likely Colleyville area and am in need of boarding suggestions. I’m a dressage rider but don’t need to be at a dressage facility and can trailer out for lessons.

My top priority is adequate turnout time…more than 4 hours if that is an option. I don’t need fancy…but clean, good quality feed and footing are a must.

No budget limits, open to small/private facility or large, but prefer not to have to drive more than 45 minutes (late morning-early afternoon traffic).

Feel free to PM with any info either positive or negative on facilities and trainers. Thank you!

most are going to be in the Flower Mound area which is on the north side of the Lake Grapevine,

You might want to contact some of the area equine vets for recommendations Diamond W Equine in Keller should have a grasp of what is out there

45 minutes at the times you stated can get you a great distance

Bump…any other ideas? Possibly a Facebook group to join that has boarding leads at either a public or private ranch?

There is a magazine, Lone Star Equine News that has advertising for boarding in the Dallas area. Its one of those freebies they give away at feed stores . I’ve got to get feed tomorrow or Thursday and will look for a copy.

Might try searching the topic. I know we’ve had recent threads over on Hunter Jumper about boarding barns with turn out. It would give you a better idea of what’s available in general.

Dont put any dates in your search field to get more results or give it at least two years. I would search all forums for “Boarding in Dallas” in the thread title instead of just “search all threads containing…” to avoid getting buried in too many results for every thread that contains “boarding” or “Dallas” somewhere within the thread.

Its not the most sophisticated search option out there but usually people get no results because they have too narrow a date range, like one day or something. Or they restrict to a single forum instead of all of them. Boarding barns tend to congregate in the same areas regardless of discipline, find one, can find most of them.

Good luck.

I would also look for Fort Worth as Colleyville is actually in Tarrant County not Dallas County… and include Denton as Flower Mound/Argyle is in Denton County

As previous posters have mentioned, most of the boarding facilities are in Denton County. I don’t ride dressage (I do H/J) but I know there is a dressage trainer at Saddlebrook in Bartonville and there is a barn called Winter Oaks that is a dressage facility. You might want to post this in the dressage forum as well.

I board my horse at Starline Stables in Justin. I live in euless, which is further than Colleyville, and it takes me about 35 minutes to get there. I do full stall board, but she’s still out whenever the weather is good and only goes in a stall when needed. They have an outdoor as well as an indoor. The owner/trainer are all mainly dressage. It’s very reasonably priced too. The owner also has a degree in equine nutrition if I remember correctly

Thank you so much everyone…I have a lot more information to work with now:)

Not sure of location proximity or if it’s what you’re looking for. Shameless plug for my niece’s farm Diamond 4

My friend is looking for boarding at her own place - PM me for info.
It’s in Argyle - excellent care, lighted arena and large quality pasture turnout as much as you like. Its private, and she’s particular about who she brings in so she doesn’t advertise much. She doesn’t have trainer there, but isn’t opposed to someone coming in or you going out for lessons.
If I still lived in the area I’d be there. Very nice place.

Ride at Bayyard Farm in Bartonville off of FM 407 and the horse care is suberb!
It’s a hunter jumper barn, however. Lovely outdoor ring with all weather footing
but no covered arena. Very pastoral setting.

Customer opened a new dressage barn in Argyle called Pebble Bourn and it’s lovely. Not far off I35W. 15 acres and lots of Centaur rail fencing for turnout.
Lovely covered arena.

Also check out Centerline Stables in north Fort Worth. Haven’t been there but a horse I rode at the therapy riding place had come from there and was one of the
best trained horses I’ve ever ridden. He was trained and shown 3-day and was a thrill when he got himself together, round and forward with me mostly along for the ride.

I am following this thread with great interest. I was not able to find what I was looking for in Dallas for boarding. If the training program fit my needs then the turnout situation was unsatisfactory. Or if they had lovely turnout pastures, then the training and care lacked. My experience has been that the facilities that are great are completely full with a waiting list. I did an exhaustive, multiple month search and was displeased with where I ended up. I have moved my horses from there, but it was disappointing and has caused a need to rehab one of my horses. I don’t mean to be a downer, I just wanted to share my challenges so you will understand the area. I do hope you have a better experience and perhaps are able to find a great fit.

SarahSC I am relocating from an area that has exactly those challenges so I am not concerned. In over 20 years in a place with a healthy equestrian community I have yet to find the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow which is ideal boarding and training at the same facility. It is the main reason I have a trailer…I board where I feel it’s a good fit for my horse and trailer out for lessons.

as note for years we just kept our horses in training in Kentucky and commuted to them

OP, you will probably find that the training facilities won’t embrace the idea of you trailering out for lessons. I have found some of the trainers in the DFW area to be very rigid. I keep my horses at home and have also found that some trainers don’t allow trailering in for lessons.
I sincerely hope that you will have an opportunity to visit a number of barns before making the move.
