Bob McDonald Banned from USEF through Safe Sport

It originated with this cartoon which sought to illustrate the phenomenon.

On page 27 we finally see the façade crack and we get a mention of LK - not pertinent at all to the topic of the thread (but can be explained away as relevant with some sealiony verbiage) but, indeed, the source and origin of our sealion. That was a slip up not worthy of a first-class sealion, but nobody’s perfect, I suppose.

I posted a bigger version above. The last frame reminds me of “I’ll check back in 3 days” [which appears to be sealion time for an hour].

Agreed on all points except that maybe there is something else going on, too. I think there is and it is explained by my most recent posts. I hadn’t realized sealioning was a thing until recently and now it all makes abundant sense. This is such a classic example and ticks all of the boxes of those definitions. Could not be clearer. Plus, the off-topic (but NO it’s really on-topic, here I’ll explain in 14 paragraphs why it is totally on-topic and right and proper) LK reference reveals so very much.

For the most part I have not been posing questions. I did pose the question to BigMama as to whether SS switches from impartial third party in the investigation phase to adversarial prosecutor phase in the arbitration phase, but I could have made that point as a statement just as easily.

Lots of posters, like Moo, repeatedly pose questions to me, then act highly indignant and worse when I misinterpret them as honest questions and (gasp) answer them!

I’ve made my point and think readers with moderately open minds may understand the point whether they agree with it or not. Most of the recent posters here are so irretrievably entrenched in their positions they would never be able to admit that their position has changed, or even that they understand my position.

Enjoy your recipes, your rhyming ditties and your fart cartoons!

AHA! Thank you for naming and explaining…I was totally not getting YD’s train of thought…on any topic.

duplicate post due to technical glitch

It helps so much to know what you’re the target of. Otherwise it really makes no sense.

Notice also how I noted that the fart bit was unfortunate and not the main point, but there again with the flounce out we get a second reference to the fart (but no acknowledgement of or response to my saying that the fart bit was not to my liking nor the point of the cartoon). That might otherwise be frustrating and annoying but now I totally understand that it IS the whole point. Straightforward stuff must be ignored and misrepresentations repeated endlessly or the game doesn’t work!

So it was not the point of the cartoon that another animal was farting in the face of the sea lion? Without the fart it’s not a cartoon.

@FitzE
posts a cartoon of an animal farting in the face of a sea lion, and it’s clear to everyone that the sea lion refers to me.

When I make a passing (pun) reference to the classiness of posting cartoons of farting animals as her contribution to the discussion, she then
 1) claims she didn’t like the fart part, but had too much integrity to alter an artist’s work
 2) claims the cartoon was not meant for “you” without specifying who “you” is
 3) criticizes me for failing to acknowledge her softening of the message by claiming the fart part was not intended, then
 4) basks in the congratulations of other posters at how brilliant her put down was.

So glad to know that the sea lioning cartoon was not meant for me! But we all know it was! So so funny!
So glad you took it as a compliment!
Presumption of innocence comes up in both tribunals.

@FitzE I was just trying to get this thread away from the YD show. As valid as sea lioning is, it should be it’s own thread.

What I can’t figure out is why they associate a sea lion with the practice. I must be dense.

While I sympathize with your POV, on the contrary, this thread has been about sealioning for - at minimum - the last 15-20 pages. Just because we are naming it and discussing it doesn’t mean this is the moment when it went off track via the sealion express. Look, after being involved in this utter nonsense for several threads and trying first polite explanation and then reasoned debate, and finally have been completely over this sophomoric ego stroking I was finally introduced to this concept. It helped me greatly as I now see exactly what’s going on and what the game is and how we are allowing otherwise really interesting and engaging threads to constantly devolve into the YD Show, Starring YD!

It’s been going on for so long on this thread and I’m watching well-meaning posters engage as though it’s a genuine exchange and it simply isn’t. It’s just a more complex form of trolling and we’ve all been sucked in. Once we can identify the issue and see it for what it is I’m hoping we can all truly break free of allowing these things to become a never ending blather fest for one poster. It’s tedious at this point. It annoys and exhausts everyone else trying to engage on a topic. It drives away posters who just don’t want to be mired down in this muck.

Pointing it out and getting people to see what’s going on isn’t working against your plan of getting this thread away from the YD show - I’m hoping it’s the beginning of finally freeing ourselves from the YD show. YMMV, but I don’t think I need to be chastised for shedding light on the situation for one page after we’ve all been suffering this nonsense for 20+. We’ve been essentially bingeing the YD show here and my on-point new and helpful info is like a tiny commercial break after a 20-episode marathon.
