Breeders Cup 2018

Another one bites the dust :frowning:

Code of Honor scratched from the BC Juvenile due to temp.

I think the soft turf will favor the Euroā€™s for sure. Would love to see Enable win tomorrow in the Turf.

I agree the Classic is a bit of a crap shoot. Like Thunder Snow (in spite of himself) and West Point with a sentimental favorite being Mind Your Biscuits.

Love watching all the juvenile races to see who looks like might be an exciting up and comer for next year  (Knowing that doesnā€™t always happen.)

Wow, those fractions and that finish! Jaywalk is the real deal.

I have a hard time getting excited for FIVE breeders cup juvenile races. At this rate, maybe for the 2019 Breeders Cup we can add a Eurociser class for the yearlings.

I rather enjoyed all the BC Juvenile races plus the Marathon. Loved the drone shots, the commentary was informative with some well done extra features and a real attempt at making it personal. My favorite was the story on Arthur Kit whose dam ran in the BC. She died during his delivery and the vet who pulled him out and recesitated him from no respiration or heartbeat was in the stands. He said heā€™d never been more nervous in his life then watching that colt run today. Horse ran a very respectable 4th in a quality field.

And how how about that little grey Korean owned horse almost pulling off a huge upset. Again. Is it My Knickā€™s? Saw him at Keeneland, heā€™s earned some respect.

Going to refrain from running up to the local racino and actually putting money on anything based on todayā€™s practice bets. Sucked. But Rosario certainly had a good day and be interesting to see if he stays on the hot streak tomorrow. Best of all itā€™s supposed to be sunny for the first time in a week.

Wow. Baffert sure has a nice 2 year old, who obviously loves CD. I hope he stays sound and healthy.
The other races were yawners.

Newspaperofrecord looked impressive, as did Game Winner. And in my usual big bucks (ha!) wagering style, I bought one $2 (well, $6 with the three selections) ticket for the Juvenile-Classic daily double. Game Winner over Catholic Boy/McKinzie/Mendelssohn. Alive so far!

Newspaperofrecord looked wonderful! And Game Winner was certainly gameā€“had a tough trip and fought through.

I had fun watching the races, and was rooting for Knicks Go to hang on - I think he may be a MD bred, and I always love local (Mid Atlantic) horses.

Iā€™ve been riding the Knicks Go bandwagon for a while, so Iā€™m sure I was entertaining for my neighbors jumping around and screaming through the stretch. Won some money too! What a good boy.

Man. It would be polite to call Wild Illusion difficult, wouldnā€™t it? Considering that she was still kicking the gate as they opened it, I thought she ran a very good race in the Filly & Mare Turf. Glad I donā€™t have to deal with her, though.

Kudos to that gate crew. What a bunch of divas, the winner deposited Valsquez on the the ground on the way back to the winners circle. Nice job by that outrider keeping tne drama to a minimum as JV landed on his feet as did Buick after Wild Illusion decided she didnā€™t care for him in the irons a couple of days ago prepping for the race.

Maresā€¦course we have Thunder Snow in the Classic just in case anybody thinks training race horses is all condition books and number crunching.

Not putting any actual money on anything today but leaning towards McKenzie and MYB. Not because they are shoo ins , they are questionable. But the odds are favorable and thereā€™s nothing in there thatā€™s an obvious winner. JMHO, for a Classic itā€™s pretty much up for grabs, and the honest horse that wonā€™t spit it out when challenged. with a seasoned jock gets my approval. There are several others in there too. As a long shot, Iā€™ll go with Pavel with Rosario. No particular reasoning, just nothing really stands out in the Classic today.

Oh, they are doing the fire againā€¦haunting videosā€¦and 60 victories racked up by horses who survived that experience including one running today, whose name I missed. Again, nice job by NBC to personalize the sport and make even casual viewers care.

Interesting that first three horses in the Turf, Enable, Magical and Sadlerā€™s Joy are all descended from Sadlers Wells, one of my very favorite stallions AND the first two fillies. Really enjoyed the race!

Just watched the post parade. Lots of interesting horses and I have absolutely no favorite among them so for once I can sit back and just enjoy watching them run.

May they all finish healthy!

Who was micā€™d up during the race?

Baby Bob Baffert congratulating Accelerateā€™s trainer was cute, he is growing up!

That was a nice Classic. Great day of racing all around!

Some pretty good horses really didnā€™t fire at all today in several of these racesā€¦wonder if getting a face full of sticky footing in the face got to some that didnā€™t break well and they didnā€™t want to tough through it? MYB not only didnā€™t make the distance, he didnā€™t make it anywhere near the front group at any time, pretty unusual for him

And wonder if Able Tasman is going to be looking for a date instead of starting again after her second disappointing outing. They canā€™t find a thing wrong, maybe sheā€™s just done?

At any rate they all came home upright with the jocks aboard despite some attempts to unload them and that gate crew deserves an Eclipse award for patience. Be interesting to see some reasoning behind the poor performances.

She was something else. And very cool color - the roan into gray. Very impressive.

Enable was absolutely stunning. What a great race, and such an incredibly beautiful filly.

Iā€™m happy for John Sadler that his first Breeders Cup win was the Classic.

Thought the turf really displayed the best by far. Those two fillies were outstanding. They should give Enable Horse of the Year. And I had Sadlerā€™s Joy, but part of my Pick 6, and Pick 4, and Pick 3. I had a LOT of 2nd and 3rd place finishersā€¦but didnā€™t cash a ticket.!
Wasnā€™t as attentive this year since the TC horses were mostly done, and hardly followed racing the last 5 months. But so many Europeans included, and others.
This is really what a Breederā€™s Cup is all about.
