Breeders Cup

What on earth would they punish Castillano for? It was Calvin who went ballistic. I only saw one guy having to be restrained to stop that fight, and it took a lot of restraint, too.

Sounds like a scary first race today. Hope it’s smooth sailing for all from here on out. I’m not able to watch live, so the updates are appreciated.

Go Zenyatta!!![/QUOTE]

Castellano threw the first punch, but beyond that- he will be punished for the epically awful riding decision that instigated the whole incident, as he should be.

I do not envy the ground crew. This area is under a SEVERE drought this year. In just the last 60 days alone, we are below average in rainfall by more than 4 1/2 inches. Combine that with the long, HOT, dry summer, and I would imagine that getting the racetrack, especially the turf, into condition for these races is not an easy task at all. I’m sure they’ve been watering the heck out of it for awhile, and it sounds like the top part of the turf is soft from all the water, but the base is a different story probably due to the severity of the drought. I’m sure it is much different from what the Euros are used to racing on. Hoping the rest of the day goes perfectly with no more issues, but kudos to the owners and trainers for doing what they feel is best for their horses.

R.I.P Rough Sailing-- Godspeed my friend

Questions for the answer man, Glimmer

Do you know why, when HRTV shows all the races from Churchill, they are allowing TVG to show these today and yesterday?
And as you noted yesterday, Larry Collmus calling the early races, er, why do they do that? That must be a big blow to the regular track announcer to not even be able to call the under card?
And RIP to Rough Sailing:(

PDR

Are you not riding today? I see you are still online?

hope atta boy roy is ok!!!

and yes, rip r.s.!

Atta Boy Roy taken off in ambulance, possible suspensory injury. God, I hope he is ok.

This is frigging horrible.

My guess is that because TVG (and parent company Betfair) is a noted partner for the BC - they are a key sponsor for at least one race.

So for all that coin CD tossed them a bone with the undercard races but ABC/ESPN reigns supreme for live broadcasts of BC races.

Cute story (heard it last night on ESPN)

Bob Baffert asked his little boy who was the fastest horse and he answered “Zenyatta.” Then he told him that he’d entered Lucky to race against her in the Classic and his son said “Why?”

Thought we could use a little pick me up.

Hope Atta Boy Roy is okay… this is not a good start for today.

According to trainer, Atta Boy Roy is OK. CAn’t find anything wrong.

Just heard Atta Boy Roy seems ok

Has been seen by two vets walking out ok Calvin said he thought he took a couple of funny steps so they were being careful.

That was a great story about Bode! And you are right about the need to need to lighten the mood a bit.

Turf Sprint

winner was Chamberlin Bridge. I kind of liked him, but for most of these I don’t have a particular rooting favorite. I also don’t trust my judgement! And at least, I don’t THINK anyone was vanned off!

I hate football.
