I didn’t realize it was such a recent change, maybe that is part of why it hasn’t been picked up. I got why COTH and others wouldn’t say anything until charges and a hearing was set.
I checked this morning and it was not there then. It has changed since then.

It looks like a judge was assigned on Monday and that caused a bunch of stuff to automatically be added.
Yes it is still a misdemeanor. However, there are enhanced penalties and sentencing and other considerations for domestic batteries as opposed to simple batteries

Looks like he has retained counsel and entered a not guilty plea via his attorney on 11/16. Pre-trial conference is set for 12/13, and trial by jury on 1/8.
As of 12/7, looks like the criminal charges are being dropped. The prosecutor filed a no information, basically saying that while there was probable cause to arrest, “after further investigation into the facts and circumstances, the likelihood of a conviction at a criminal trial is slight.” All the upcoming dates (jury selection, trial, etc) have been removed from the docket.
