Burghley

Seems like the turn before the 2nd white airy oxer takes away too much of the impulsion and they just can’t get across it?

Derek’s courses are challenging but not creators of carnage.

Certainly seems that way for many of them, definitely the case for Doug and Quinn. The ones who have given their horse a little more room have fared better. But overall I hate that combination.

Oh, poor Buck! He looks okay but shaken.

That lovely horse who got its foot caught in its martingale was very, very lucky. I looks like it actually took a stride on 3 legs - deserves a medal, for that

Exactly. I’ve loved most of his Kentucky courses. Also can’t wait to see what he does in Tokyo.

His collar bone was just broken in April, can’t imagine it holding through that!

Thankfully Lillian won’t know about Buck.

I think that the carnage is getting inside the heads of all of the riders to come. Usually it’s an advantage to ride later and know what rides well and how to do what doesn’t. Instead, it’s like being fed into a meat grinder.

that was terrifying. very clever and lucky horse

Anyone who finishes might get a ribbon.

It’s also top 20 for prize money, correct? To get in the top 20, one just needs to score under 86.9.

Yes Lillian!!!

I wish Mike ES was the designer here, at least his riders come away feeling more empowered- even if they had refusals - rather than broken.
