I saw the entry list yesterday and thought it seemed very light - only 23 so far! Seems to be mostly international entries so far and not many of the Brits have signed up. Glad to see a good size American contingent!

There is still a week left before entries close and I’m sure more will crop up now that the Olympic eventing is over.

When do entries close?

I think the entries at Burghley are usually lower-than-otherwise in an Olympic year

I’m going to spectate! I’m so excited. I think we’re prepared. We are flying in Tueseday before. My mother and I are picking up our rental car in Peterborough, several reservations for dinner already made (I’m expecting evenings to be packed.)
We cannot wait.

@AskMyAccountant.17 Travel with empty suitcases and empty credit cards. Many people go to Burghley purely to shop and don’t bother to watch that little Eventing thingy attached on the side.

My personal advice would be not to do too much in the evenings as the days are exhausting enough. Don’t over do it. The size of the crowds, the mental stimulation and excitement, the distances you will walk daily, the many displays you will see alongside the Eventing can be a little bit overwhelming. When I try to do everything in one day I have to go home and rest with my legs elevated!

I prefer Burghley to Badminton because the course is always more interesting, with more terrain, and the weather is often better.

40 more entries overnight last night! Up to 63 total. Lots of Brits, plus the Prices and a few others. That’s the Burghley we’re used to!

A lot of people will decide whether or not enter Burghley after Hartpury International 4* and the National Championships this past weekend. There were many top horses having a run there.

Incredible line up!!

I am kind of surprised that will coleman didn’t enter one of his horses since they were already over and hadn’t run in the Olympics.

I just saw they were entered at the AECs along with Thomas and Conner. Hopefully at least some of them are being pointed toward Maryland.

There’s also Pau in October- feels like that might be where Will’s aiming. I doubt we’ll see Off the Record a Maryland since he tends to do better with a flatter course but we may see Diabolo there.

Does anyone know if there is a live feed you can listen to while spectating? I loved this for Kentuck. Plus, for so many dressage tests, it will be nice to have commentary to listen to!

There certainly is for the dressage. Cross country, I’m not certain. People usually walk from fence to fence and cover the entire course so a commentary isn’t too useful but there will be large screens showing who is on course at points around the site.

There usually is :crossed_fingers:

I hope all the USA entries at Burghley do not mean that the entries for Maryland will be very low.

I’m glad to see so many Americans riding at Burghley. You have to get out of your own back yard and compete against the best, if you to be the best.

I think Burghley TV is very well done and worth the $26.

I agree. It’s cheap, easy o sign up and use. The camera coverage is excellent as is the announcing. Kentucky and Maryland should study what Burghley does.
