Business As Usual
Not quite sure why this was edited but aside from that is there anyone in particular that this post was aimed at?

It’s well known how these folks operate. The thing I find most reprehensible is how people around that place tolerate it. I’ve never seen such a town full of cowards outside of the movie “High Noon”
Remember the only thing necessary for evil to prevail is for good people to do nothing.
Agreed- Penn Horsepeople, you elected the queen, now you have her. If you want her out of office, sack up, mobilize, run a great candidate against her, and vote.

CT rule for years Penn just catching up

BTW far be it from me to bring it to anyone’s attention but effective today no riding in the shedrows. Being caught on top of a horse in the shedrows will now get you a $500 fine and days. Gotta love that place!

Major glaring difference here Judy,
CT has racing and training. Penn has horses standing in stalls from now till God only knows when. CT doesn’t have jockeys and exercise riders losing money every day that they can’t ride. The suits who handed down this particular edict still get paid every day the track is idle, these folks don’t.

I’d like to follow up my good friend Profidia in asking who was DaHoss’ post aimed at?

To say we’ll lose stalls, what if we have no stalls to lose?
To say they’ll claim our horses, well, what if we have no horses to claim?
To say we’ll lose jobs or business, well, what if we’re not employed there and do no business in the place?
To say we’ll be sued, Sued for what? Some of us have nothing to sue us for:cool:
Finally, and this is my favorite, to say we’ll be beaten up. ROTFLMFAO! I didn’t know we were in high school:lol:
As to that a few out there know who I am. Any of them who’d like to kick my ass is sure welcome to try:winkgrin:

I think the people who have actually been following this thread know who the “post was aimed at” and in what manner it was meant to be taken.

You can think it funny all you want, but the guy who was going to be a potential witness with the Gill situation who got beat up(according to one official with the Racing Commission) and decided to clam up afterwards probably isnt laughing with you.

As far as everything else I had posted(which was deleted by the Mods) has already happened to various individuals or is in the process of happening.

and your point??? same happens when Ct closes both tracks you walk…no riding in shedrows…froze surface is froze…

The reason I got was -

"We edited your recent post indicating that a group of individuals from PN was threatening others with bodily harm, etc. for speaking out, to comply with our posting policies.

Please avoid making further claims of illegal activity unless substantiated by a reputable news source, charges filed, etc."

If you ask me, the whole thread is about “claims of illegal activity”
And when a racing official tells you one guy has already been beaten up, so perhaps it’s better that you cease being involved…well I dont have to continue painting a picture.

And apparently Penn Gaming is also flexing their powers here in Md… a certain trainer whos owner stood up to PG during a meeting to confront them recieved a phone call to either remove owners horse from the barn, or risking losing all stalls.

And just a question, I remember seeing horses shedrowed at CT not that long ago. So the new rule is that you cant throw a rider up and take a turn around the barn? Do the riders have to dismount outside the barn instead of returning a horse to their stall? Crazy rule if thats what it’s about.

wow! really? Inquiring minds would love to hear more.

Up and out…Off and in…also no vehicles to be driven from barn to barn during training hours…excluding vet.

You park @ your barn and WALK on foot during training hours…riders who were driving from barn to barn to get on mounts got a fine and have to park in parking garage and walk over.
Also no hand grazing any where @ any time and riding to and from track not hack around. Plus a slew of track rules, inconsitant hours, etc…no better than Penn and of course owned by same gang…

You can hand graze a horse at Charlestown? I didn’t see any grass there.

Is anyone familiar with owner/trainer John A. Capellini at Penn Natl? I ask becuz he claimed a Finger Lakes horse today that I follow, “Mr. Real Deal”. Mr. Real Deal started out the 2010 racing season at Finger Lakes in fine fashion, winning 3 allowance races. He was claimed for $10K later in the season, and has not done well subsequently. He was sent to PN after FL closed, and was claimed today at the bottom level.

On this issue,
I don’t recall anyone being told about an election or receiving a ballot. Just remember hearing she got elected after it was over. Can anyone come forward who voted in the last election?

Far be it from these folks to be involved in any skullduggery but was this election on the up and up? Who certified it? Mostoller maybe?
Anybody know any of this stuff?

The parking vehicles and not driving around the barn area during training hours I completly get, and thats a rule that most tracks had in place over 25 years ago (except in Md). Personally as someone who has almost been hit more than a few times while coming or going to the track I think it’s an excellent rule.

The no shedrowing rule is just plain stupid.

As a former board member at Penn I can tell you that the election process is handled very professionally and on the up and up. They accept nominations in writing then mail the ballots out to all horseman who are eligible to vote. The votes are mailed back in a special envelope that are collected and tabulated by an accountant. There may be a lot of illegal activities going on at Penn but the election is not one of them.

In your experience as a board member can you tell us who has the authority to oversee the secretary-treasurer?

If anything concerning their fiduciary responsibilities is ever in question can the executive director hold them accountable?

The board itself oversees the secretary/treasurer, namely the president. The executive director doesn’t have authority to do anything outside of what the board directs him to do so no, he could not hold anyone accountable for anything.

ballot? ?
ok, I’ll byte… which horsemen are eligible to vote then?

Just for the record, I got a ballot.

I am an erstwhile owner (didn’t have one stabled at Penn when the ballot came out due to bad racing luck).

BUT if I got a ballot, I need to assume the election was probably on the up-and-up (otherwise, my vote would not have been solicited).

Other than having Penn as my closest track, I don’t have a dog in this fight. BUT I didn’t expect to get a ballot, especially if there was skullduggery. And I got one.

I’m just suggesting you factor that into your theories.

Ok KB thanks for your input. I’ll certainly do that. Now as Vixen asked who’s eligible to vote?

Also, how did the esteemed racing secretary there become a “Chief advisory steward”? Is this a self appointed title or did somebody actually approve of this?:o

I don’t trust HBPA elections. Can’t say anything for PA, but I am VERY suspicious of the Washington state elections, and some HBPA highups in Louisiana were charged with mail fraud for tampering with election results.
