Business As Usual
Ya, I saw that claim and thought the same thing. Now, not only do we have to worry about Guerrero claiming your horse, and juicing it, we have to worry about their new shopping spree.
And you have to worry about all their claims that go bad and mysteriously disappear and fall through the cracks.
That’s been planned for a while now. Additionally, he was also seen over the weekend at a farm near Penn National looking to lease the place.

Him and Gill have promised to be back, here they come. Stay tuned folks this thread isn’t dead by a long shot:winkgrin:
So the abusers, dope pushers and killers win again? Amazing!

I can and will provide a temporary home for a horse that needs it. I have a 16 stall barn and 20 acres and only 3 horses right now. Two of those are looking for new homes as well, I don’t have the means to go to PA and get them, but if someone has a few (3) that need a place to stay while homes are found I am more then happy to offer up my place, and also spend some time working with them a little bit as well. I am in NC and I know it’s a bit far, but just want everyone to know it’s here if you need it.
or…he may have a valid Owners Lic, and… have stalls at an approved facility/track.

Its one …or the other.
As I understand it, Gill is allowing him to use Elk Creek for whatever he claims. Maybe those good folks who keep an eye on that place could take a peek? BTW In PA just what constitutes an approved facility?

Right you are:mad:

There is no inspection as long as it meets all applicable codes…plus Elk Creek is private and I think this time arround NO ONE is going to just drive in…

I was at Elk Creek Ranch on Wed. and Thu. and there is nothing going on there, nothing. I know there may still be some cats, they have evaded my traps and I believe some possums and racoons run around there but no one has been there for a while. I know while the driveway was covered with snow and ice that no one had driven on it, not at the groundskeeper’s house nor to the barn. There were never tire tracks past the gate. The only person that went there was someone who feeds the cats, he walked. That gate is horrible to push open. I just brought the last cat I’m going to trap there, sadly I just can’t get inside past that stupid heavy gate. I hope someone does go in there soon, hope they sell it. It’s so creepy at night especially when the wind blows. I know that there was a mamma cat at the house but I’ve never seen her. I’d love to get her so she stops making babies and I guess I’d have another barn cat, like I need another. I’m going to try to make this one I brought home from the clinic adoptable, she’s been friendly and handled.

Does anyone want to give a home to the deaf cat (super sweet girl) and her buddy a tortoise shell, petite cat who is shy? I need to wrap up this Elk Creek cat rescue. I found homes for a few.

The partnership between the Pennsylvania Horsemen’s Benevolent and Protective Association and New Vocations Racehorse Adoption Program is fully up and running. The program started taking horses in November and to date has taken in 24 horses.

Ten of the 24 have successfully been adopted into new homes. The program, established by the Pennsylvania HBPA, offers a good option for racehorses at the Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course in need of retirement and placement into new careers.

ā€œWe were in need of a program for our retired racehorses,ā€ said Todd Mostoller, executive director of the Pennsylvania HBPA. ā€œWe chose to partner with New Vocations due to their many years of experience in running a racehorse adoption program. One of the keys to a financially viable racehorse retirement program is to get the horses adopted into new homes. New Vocations has become the expert and we appreciate their willingness to share their expertise and manage our program.ā€

The Pennsylvania HBPA, Penn National Gaming, and the Pennsylvania Owners and Breeders Association have all made donations to support the program. Ongoing funding will come from a $10 dues assessment for each starter at HCPNRC.

The program is housed at Foxfield Farm, which has locations in both Oxford and Reinholds, Pa. ā€œNew Vocations mission is to rehabilitate, retrain, and rehome the retired racehorses, and Foxfield Farm greatly compliments our efforts,ā€ said New Vocations program director Anna Ford. "They have both a reputable layup and equestrian facility, which are crucial to helping the retired racehorses transition properly into new homes and careers.

ā€œThe support for the program has been amazing,ā€ she added. "I think the Pennsylvania HBPA, Penn National Gaming, and the Pennsylvania Owners and Breeders Association should all be applauded for their support. This type of program is greatly needed. There is an overwhelming amount of horses in need of a place to go once retired. Although we are still in our infancy stage we have made good progress in a rather short period of time.

I wish I could have helped you out there Susan with taking in some of those animals, unfortunately, im just not in a situation at the moment where I could have.

Sadly, Team Gill cared nada about the animals left behind to starve, but then again, they cared little about the hundreds of horses they destroyed and then disappeared…so why expect them to care about their barn cats/dogs.

Rosecroft

http://thedailyrecord.com/2011/02/28/penn-national-closes-on-rosecroft-sale/

I just saw an article on this sale. PN owns 49% of the Md Jockey Club too. No moss is growing under their feet. So, they bought it to pay themselves back. (?)

On the rescue --- sadly, many people have been turned away. Their horses arent sound and suitable for sale, even if they meet eligibility. No lumps, bumps and limps need apply -- fractures and suspensory's, forget it.

I will give credit due where its deserved, and there is good being done here, unfortunately, its not across-the-board helping those that need it the most.

Hopefully, this issue will continue to be on the table looking for some resolution. Trainers pay their racing fee for services…if the horse is hurt in the race… its… SOL.

I understand, we have to do what we can when we are able. Right now I have probably the last one…MAYBE, lol though I know there are more, no luck catching them. She is a gray cat, like most of the girls have been and the boys are mostly buff colored like their Daddy and one mamma is tortie, and one little girl is a light tortie. I think the light tortie is very young, she’s petite and sweet and of course our deaf girl is gray.

Now I’m actually hoping for indoor homes, even easier to come by than barn homes.

Thank you for even considering trying to help. So the only ones now are the ones that could go as house cats. I wish I could have gotten the mamma by the caretaker’s house.

That’s good to know thanks.

Adamo has been seen prowling around a Grantville farm that he was looking to buy. Thankfully that didn’t happen either but his sneaking around and going in horse stalls with nobody around was most unwelcome and resulted in his being thrown out of the place.

In other late breaking news…
Did anybody hear that a certain well known high profile PN trainer has been seen at David Wells’ house???

Another day on ā€œAs the Hotwalker Turnsā€

Oh to reply to this BS…it was not who you think it is or want to lead people into believing it is!!! Get your facts straight and check out your trucks better …

Bless you for rescuing and caring for the cats, Susan. I’m on the other side of the country and can’t take any, but what you’re doing helps mitigate what the Gills of the world do. Thank you.

That’s nice of you to say. I have trapped a few cats and work with a TNR organization called Forgotten Cats. www.forgottencats.org and it just so happened that I got a call about this farm and the abandoned cats and the farm almost backs up to mine. I remember when they were first building the barn. There are so many training and breeding farms in close proximity and maybe because we’re 5 minutes from Fair Hill Training Center that they build here. But I was hoping for more casual riders. Not many people can afford to buy 45 acres for pleasure horses in Chester County, PA anymore. I have almost 12 acres and just got lucky to get it when it was still reasonable. It’s a beautiful area. It’s just a pain that there are so many people so eager to exploit animals. Horses are often the victims of these characters with no character.

I still haven’t come up with a name for this last cat from ECR, she’s mixing with my cats now and will let me know when she wants me to open a can of food for her. She’s solid gray like the little deaf cat and the females I’ve trapped there so far. Male cats have been buff/orange tabby and the girls have been gray or tortoise shell except one male kitten is brown tabby.

Heres a name for your cat SusanP…

LC … for last cat… but its said as Elsie :)-- and this attaches a story to her

thanks for taking such good care of the cats there...
long journey with it all, but you did it!

Gosh you guys are slow! Something major happened yesterday and you are still talking about cats? The first of possibly many shoes has dropped.

Well, Laurie, some of us know of what’s going on only through this thread, so please share!

I haven’t been stabled at Penn in 11 years so I was waiting for the locals to chime in. All I know is what was in the press release. Paul Jenkins is out as racing secretary. He retired but it remains to be seen if some of that retirement will be spent somewhere unpleasant.
