I am intrigued by the double bridle that Nip Tuck is in. What is it? It looks like a modified Micklem, but not quite. (Same photo in both images.)

PS of Sweeden has a new design sort of like that, but i have not seen it lined in white.

Is that the new Stubben?

I can’t make out any badge or branding.

It looks like the TOTA COMFORT Noseband maybe?

Charlie Tota has made a noseband like that - saw it in Wellington, and have been using it on my horse. Maybe Carl saw it and got one when he was recently in Wellington?

It comes with white padding.

Could be the Dressage Connection Andros with the Tota system?

Yaya, how are you liking it?

Yes, definitely the Tota noseband.

So far, I like it. I feel like “someone’s home” at the end of the reins. I can really feel what his mouth is doing, and he seems more willing to stretch to contact.

I’m going to try it on my other horse tomorrow. He has some muscle atrophy on his face (he’s 23), and sometimes acts like he’s being shocked when asking him to flex, so I think something is pressing on a facial nerve. This noseband is specifically designed to stay away from the facial nerves, so I hope to feel a big difference with him too.

The big question, Yaya: was it expensive?

$350 for the 3cm, horse size (More than most of my bridles!)

If your bridle doesn’t have a buckle on each side for the cavesson, you will need to get the converter strap too. And they say if using the converter, it works better when used either through or over a padded crownpiece, not directly on the horse’s poll under the crownpiece.

My crownpiece wasn’t padded, and I didn’t have the two buckles, so I just ordered a separate Schumacher Tiffany crownpiece from Dressage Extensions. It is cutback, padded, and the cavesson straps are all one piece built into the crownpiece.

I hope you’ll post again after trying it with your older guy.

I have the Tota noseband too. I’ve been using it on my gelding for 3 weeks now. Like yaya’s horse, he seems more willing to stretch into the contact. Before, he would want to go above the bit and sometimes fling his head up and down. He still does the head flinging, but it has decreased quite a bit.

I already had a monocrown bridle, so all I had to do was attach the noseband. And it is way more expensive than my bridle! But so far, it seems to be worth it.

rofl forget more expensive than most bridles – your horse’s headgear was more expensive than my last horse

i’d love a picture… i LOVE the otto schumacher tiffany browband!

i’ve been keeping my eye on the noseband because i’ve been curious as well but I don’t think I could justify the $$ at this time.

Rode the older guy in the noseband today, and again noticed a difference. This guy tends to be busy with his mouth, and curls off the bit. Today, his mouth was quieter, he reached for contact, and although I could tell he was expecting that “shock” feeling, when he realized it wasn’t happening, he settled down. Biggest difference was his walk. He is usually “balled up” feeling, with kind of mincing steps. None of that today. He stretched down, and actually strode out with his steps!

Can’t wait to see if the feeling repeats tomorrow, so it will seem more “real”, and not just “something is different today, mom!”.

I don’t have an online picture account.

And I don’t have the Tiffany browband, it’s the crownpiece from the bridle with that browband. Dressage Extensions sells it as a separate part.

On the older guy’s bridle, the cavesson strap goes through the crownpiece so it goes on top of it over his head. But the converter strap they sent didn’t fit through the hole (too wide), so I took apart the flash strap to that bridle (he doesn’t need it), punched holes in it, and used it to hang the cavesson. Worked fine!

Sorry to revive an older thread, but was wondering if those of you using the Tota noseband still are and are still experiencing positive results? Anyone else tried one?

Also, for those using it and seeing an improvement in your horse, did you try other alternative bridles (such as the Micklem) prior to the Tota and, if so, where the results similar or different?

Still using it with both my guys. (Just have the one noseband, I swap it back and forth.) Still liking the results.

Just had a clinic with a trainer from England who rides with Carl Hester, and he said he’s seen the Tota nosebands and likes them. (Forgot to ask if that’s for sure a Tota in the picture, but it sure looks like one.)

Have not tried a Micklem. My horses don’t need a flash or drop, and I needed something that would work with a double as well, so it wouldn’t work for me.
