Blue Buffalo has confirmed that they are not affiliated with Diamond and not affected by the recall. I don’t know if they’ve had any major recalls in the past though.

Here you go (this is just one of the lists that have been released):

While I would not feed any of the recalled formulas currently, Natural Balance is one of the companies that hired Diamond to make their food. With the plant issues I would not be surprised if they change whom they hire after this instance. It would be great if Diamond would actually state which ones hired them (Wellness Large Puppy and Natural Balance is the only ones I know for sure) and which ones they own. Hoping more then just wellness jumps ship to a different manufacturer/plant.

Canidae surely is

That is great to know. I certainly wouldn’t check all these brands off my list of safe permenantly. I would however check anything owned by Diamond off the list.
Nature’s Logic…now the only Kibble I will buy (I have one who is actually not a fan of raw). It is the only Kibble on the market that doesn’t add a damn synthetic vitamin pack.
This company was started by former Nature’s Variety folks…another one that I like, but now I will stick to Nature’s Logic…very small company.
Their calcium levels are waaaay too high for puppies, though. :-/
After Innova I just went back to my old standby Performatrin (Pet Valu brand). It was always a good middle class kibble. http://www.performatrinultra.com/dog/ddi_chicken.htm

I mentioned it on the other thread, but I’ve had good luck with Native, which is manufactured by Kent. http://www.nativedogfood.com/ Tessa eats the Level 3, which is relatively high in fat, and it has really helped decrease the number of sebaceous cysts that she gets.
Decades ago there was no such thing as “commercial dog food”. Dogs are table scraps and canned horse meat. Maybe it’s time to go back to that. Seems safer O.o
I agree RougeEmpire. It’s the only way to guarantee that your dog is getting what is advertised. Short of that, I no longer sweat dog foods.

I will shamefully admit that my GSDx will not eat ANY “good” dog foods. I have bought many different brands and price points to try on her. The only thing she will eat is Pedigree puppy food and canned pedigree. Again, she prefers the “puppy” kind. She is around/over 10 years old at this time, so I gave up a long time ago on trying to get her to eat stuff that’s good for her. She’s at the age that she can just eat whatever she wants as long as she stays eating.
My JRT does get human food, but I haven’t researched how to really properly feed a raw diet, so I keep him on kibble.
Do you feed the freeze dried or the kibble?
I would have to feed my dog nearly 30 freeze dried “dinner bites” a day to meet her calorie requirements
Kibble. Both loff it and have improved since being moved off TOTW.

I looked at the Nutrisca kibble, but the site I was on didn’t have any smaller sized bags. My luck I would buy a big bag and my dogs would hate it…lol. I didn’t notice they had freeze dried at that time. Do you have to add anything to the bites?
They are complete, according to the website:
http://nutrisca.dogswell.com/chickendinnerbites.html
I imagine it’s pretty costly, though. They only recommend as a meal topper for dogs over 30 pounds…
this site usually warns of any recalls and has rated most dogs foods.

Good to know…but since I don’t have puppies, it doesn’t bother me.
I’ve used Nature’s Variety for a few years and so far there have been no problems with it.
ZiwiPeak and Addiction are both great! Both have a venison option, and Addiction also has a brushtail option. You can order either on Amazon.
