Canadian Fan Escorted from Equestrian Venue?

The bf said he heard something on the news about a Canadian fan that had to be forcefully removed from the equestrian venue. They didn’t say anything about why though?? Anyone heard about this?

Oh found it… for anyone interested

Wow Snoopy in another thread you sure had strong opinions of American’s doing this but hey when it’s the Canadians your tone really changes… Maybe you should switch out that dual citizenship to England and Canada!!!:lol:

snoopy writes-That is all well and good in the USA. Athletes are GUESTs in China and should behave as such.
I am always amazed when americans feel that their amendment rights extend beyond their borders.

Where does this make sense?

First she says:

“I was only holding a Canadian flag,” Chan said after the incident.

Then she says:

“I planned to use that as a decoy, but they said I’d broken the rules and would have to leave. The whole thing was pretty ridiculous.”

Well…apparently…ridiculous…of course - no flags of countries outside of the ones competing in the Olympics - that was just an optional rule…

I have news, you’re gonna lose!!!

My crazy canadian comment was a joke directed to our nothern neighbours…and had nothing to do with the politics of the situation. Do I think she should have done what she did…NO.

Honestly sweety I have enough stalkers I really do not need another…

K…sorry:(:o

Is Christina Chan a Canadian or was she just using the Canadian flag as a decoy?? The article says she is a student so is she a student in China?? Names sure sounds Chinese to me although I know there are a lot of Chinese in Canada. Weird!

Y’all don’t seem to know this little fact about flags.

Spectators aren’t supposed to bring them in. In China or any other host nation.

Yes, I know they do. Yes, I saw people running around with body paint and a flag at the Atlanta games. Yes, I saw the Japanese doing the same thing - but discretely and they were little teeny flags.

And then they’d hide them before they could be escorted out.

Nice that y’all want to blame China for oppressing the poor spectators… but if this was the US the spectator, if caught, would have been escorted out as well.

Sorry to rain on the “Crucify China” parade.

As stated in the article - no Flags from countries that are not participating in the Olympics. So the Canadian flag is alright, but due to Olympic rules (not any Chinese rules) the Tibetan flag is not allowed.

Then it seems that the US is less hospitable than China - as according to the “rules” for the 96 games - no flags inside the venue and spectators would be escorted out. Which I wish then would have done for the Aussies - the body paint did not disguise the buddha bellies.

Ridgeback - be graceful! JSwan is informing you, as you are quite clearly ignorant of the facts. She is not.
