I am not suggesting that I do not support the team that is there currently. Of course I do. But if this slides than EC has no accountability for their actions in the future either.

This was not directed at you, but the whole social media crap that is going on, which is so very disrespectful - whether it is at CoTH, FB, twitter or wherever! Enough said.
It’s really hard to do anything as supporters (write letters, petitions, etc.) without knowing what happened on Selena’s end. And it is VERY suspicious that no one on her team has uttered a word publicly. The games won’t bet he same without cheering her and woody on ???
Looks pretty suspicious if you read certain people’s Facebook pages. I feel like a creepy stalker but I came across the page of someone in the affected group through a mutual friend and one tongue-in-cheek comment made towards a photo posted was “Groom dehydration is the veterinary issue.”
That with other comments makes it look pretty bad.

I could be wrong but most riders seem to post a statement along the lines of Maya’s (disappointed, horse will be fine, go team) after getting bumped for soundness. But correct me if I’m wrong

I tend to agree with you brindille. Unfortunately.
I wish everyone there a safe trip (around cross country and in all their travels,) and hope that Selena’s next event performance is a giant “I told you so.”
Their jog up outfit is suitable - try comparing with other countries!! Ugh - some had public outcry and had to change their outfits.

OMG- you are totally right. I need to go eat something. Canada looks professional. I somehow managed to think one of the British riders was Canadian. Britain looks like they came out of the gym. I edited.

If she aims for Burghley as did Sinead Halpin and Allison Springer in 2012 after being left off the team, maybe she can do a top 6 performance. That would be a little salve to the wound.
Jessica Phoenix and A Little Romance just kicked off the eventing dressage! Stream online (CBC) here in Canada (or use a proxy if outside Canada): http://olympics.cbc.ca/video/live/equestrian-aug-eventing-dressage.html

Thank you for the link, SF. I watched, and of course I am in tears.
I thought it was a very nice test, and Jess looked very pleased.
A Little Romance looked quite relaxed.

Yes, she seemed pretty relaxed to me too, and obedient. Her score just got posted at 51.90.
K. Robinson and Let it Bee eliminated on the x-c. Substituted in at the last moment, without the results to really warrant it, and now out. This will make things really challenging for Canada in terms of finishing a team.

I can’t imagine the selection brouhaha was good for anyone on the team. I would have pencilled in Jessica Phoenix as the first rider on the team if I was doing the selecting, and love ALR, but this was always going to be a big ask for her given her relative inexperience and the fight to get on the team had to have added even more pressure to them. It’s really unfortunate they had to be first because I think she started losing confidence and maybe if Jessie had seen how the course was riding she could have started taking options even earlier.
It will be interesting to see how the other two Canadians do.
So, coulda shoulda woulda time. Hindsight being closer to 20/20 than foresight, what would our ideal Olympic team have looked like? I think it would be full of capable 4* XC pairs, and I’m not sure if we could field a team of those.
A review of our long list and athlete results is a firm reminder of how difficult and unforgiving this sport can be. Lots of good riders on that list, but not a lot of combinations ready in 2016 with good 4* results or multiple 4* results.
Yes, but assuming Selena was axed for reasons other than soundness, choosing a horse that has had one season at advanced and never run a 4* with a rider that has never run a 4* over a 4* veteran combo = bizarre.
Well, speaking of which… how is it that Kyle Carter’s Madison Park didn’t even make the list of potential entries?
