Canadian Olympic Team - who do you pick?
Extremely important that the announcement be made to co-incide with the new website and emblem…team riders can continue to bite their nails.
The odd thing is, didn’t they already do this? It was announced a few months ago, and they had a party for it. Who gives a shit about their new look and stuff, make a better organization and put the money towards being more organized!

I HATE paying into this thing, but have to in order to show. My hands are tied. Wish they would smarten up.

Lisa, Holly, Kyle and Rachael are on the wait list for Great Meadow? There could have been a second team for Canada. Why did EC delay in submitting these applications for Great Meadow?

No, there couldn’t be a second team for Canada. Each country gets one team. Everyone not on a team is just competing individually, they don’t get to compose ‘extra’ teams.

The waitlist is supposed to be by rider ranking, but perhaps the lateness of those four entries did factor into their all being on the bottom of the waitlist. It looks like they were entered after closing date based on when they appeared on the list.

They probably entered late because they probably had no idea until last minute. The 4 that are entered were very last minute too.

According to Max and Joe on the latest Eventing Radio show, the Canadian riders only found out who EC nominated for the Olympics when the FEI released its list of “nominated riders and horses”. They were not told by EC. Max and Joe also said that the Canadian riders were just recently been notified whether they are on the team…However they can not tell anyone…no one…not even family, owners, sponsors, etc. and must wait 3 weeks until the formal EC announcement. Joe and Max were discussing how unfair this EC process has been to all.

These bullshit rules are getting ridiculous!! Seriously, you’re making the riders wait 3 damn weeks before they can tell anyone because of a stupid announcement gag crap thing. COME ON! Its not fair, it’s exciting to them, who gives a shit about the EC new site and name and crap, no one does. We want to know the teams. Getting so ticked off with EC.

At least the riders know and can prepare, but can’t financially prepare either because they can’t tell anyone.

And not tell the owners?? Dear god, can it get more stupid?

Dontcha get it - it has to wait for the web page announcement?

Being named is the high point of a person’s entire career and they expect nobody to say anything after all that dedication – I’d tell my family at least, my trainer, and then dare them to drop me … no, actually, I wouldn’t - and I’m not in that situation or a shit disturber.

EC is the epitome of bloated administration looking out for their own interests at the expense of the people they are supposed to serve. How dare they fail the riders in this way in order to drum up interest in their (ripped off and recycled) logo/brand!?!

Here is an interesting article on Horse Canada

The article on Eventing Connect by Sable is very well-written.
http://eventingconnect.today/2016/06/22/who-will-canada-send-to-rio-here-are-the-stats-and-facts-for-each-pair/

It will be interesting to see who actually goes. EC is being spectacularly disrespectful to the riders leaving this so late. Hopefully, Clayton is on his way after Rio.

I’ll be happy to see Clayton go after Rio, he’s done nothing good for our teams.

Lets hope that Horse Canada article is pure guesstimation and not hearsay from riders talking. Really hoping that’s not the team, I don’t have much hope for us if that’t the case.

At Rolex this year, Jackie Brooks was at the final warm up ring with Selena right next to the ramp to enter the stadium. Selena was on deck. (Jackie had been at ring familiarization with Selena the evening before). Clayton came over to Selena, stopped her, and wanted her to switch her bridle. He kept pressuring her. Jackie and Selena are explaining why they chose a different bit than the one he wanted… and this is while Selena’s dressage time is counting down. At a moment when other coaches are quiet, giving confidence to their riders, and making sure the bell boots are off, Clayton is picking a argument. I was standing right beside the ring about 15 feet away. There were lots of people watching the rings. It was very strange. Jackie and Selena had been quietly and progressively warming up and Selena’s horse was doing beautiful work.

What a mess.

WOW, Sharon, that’s insane, but I wouldn’t put it past him! WOW.

Fred, how disturbing is that. What a joke.

This is insane. What a joke our Canadian team has become, which is so unfair to all our riders.

I have to agree with you there.

I remember when he first started with our team and I was griping about him and everyone told me to sht up because he was soooo good. I can not stand a single choice EC has made in the last 8 years.

I’ll keep my team thoughts to myself since it’s such an unpopular opinion, but aside from the selections… this entire process is a bloody joke.

I have to say at first I was excited, He’s done well with some riders, but I really don’t think he did anything good for Canada.

At the end of the day it was about how he comes out on top. He’s a business man and doesn’t give two shakes about Canada and how we do. He just wants to make money and come out on top. Not a fan.

Exactly, and huge conflicts of interest everywhere but I guess that’s horse business. He spent more time showing and selling horses than building our team.

Maybe when MJ is bored with winning everything under the sun he will want to take on a challenge - he can bring our Canadian team to victory some day lol

Oh that would be wonderful!!

It speaks volumes then Graeme Tom resigned from the position when Clayton came into play. It’s just a complete mess and there needs to be a better way of doing this.

Mark Todd would be a neat one to bring over too. So many options out there, just wish we would try harder to get them. Who the hell would want to work with EC at this point though :frowning:
