Cassini II offspring?

I am so thrilled with my Cassini II fillies and would love to know who else is using him and what the offspring look like. It would be interesting to see the mares he’s being bred to and their pedigrees. Everyone seems to really like Cassini I…(think Cunningham)… but I’d like to see what his full brother is producing here in North America. He’s hot, hot, hot in Europe.

We have three fillies from Cassini II in our barn and another one on the way for 2009. Two of the fillies are five years old and from his first German crop. One is a jumper (ours); the other was bred by Reece Miller and is in training to be a hunter. The third one is a 2008 foal and looks to be a jumper!

Any other breeders with Cassini II babies and pictures?

Hi Bonnie,

Not on the ground yet, but we are expecting a Cassini II in '09 out of our St. Pr. Zenit (Caribo/Tumbled xx/Faenrich) via ET, stamm 95. The mare has been a super producer (German Young Horse and Riding Horse competitors; jumper daughter under German team member; RPSI and CWHBA licensed stallion sons; numerous year end award winners, etc) and we are really looking forward to this cross! We’ll update you when the foal is born…

PS: I have to remember to send you pics of our Campesino filly…she’s lovely!

Bonnie,
I’m sure you know, but my mare Princess Queenie (Phantom/Polydor) had a Cassini II baby before I bought her. That baby is in Canada now, is coming three and is in a show barn. I have a pic of her on my website from her inspection. I saw pics/videos of her as a yearling and I can tell you she was going to be a BIG girl; not heavy but BIG!

Hi Elizabeth!

Yes, I know Princess Queenie had a Cassini II filly… would love to see her today. She was a beautiful baby.

I bought my first Cassini II filly as a 2 yr old in Germany. Bred her there at three to Quinar before he was imported to the US. We imported her while she was pregnant, let her have her foal and then put her to work. Here she is in Atlanta a few months ago:

I don’t have current pictures of the other ones but am going to get some this weekend.

Check this amazing Cassini II filly out… she belongs to Reece and is out of his mare Lavaletta by Acord II, who is also the mother of my mare Ulissa. Ulissa is now in foal to Cassini II and Laveletta is in foal to Campesino:

I posted these two videos on another thread but thought they were both special enough to start a new thread about their sire. Rumor has it Cassini II semen is going to be rather scarce here because of the demand in Europe.

Where can you get Cassini II semen and what’s the cost?

Showjumper your mare is great and that foal is lovely

Karen Reid at www.foxfirefarm.us is the Verband Rep for North America. I hope you don’t buy it all…I need to buy a couple of doses for next year!

Thank you for the nice compliment. I’m just glad I had the good sense to buy her when I did!

I was very excited when I saw this thread, as we absolutely love our Cassini II filly!

I bought the Cassini II filly out of Hillside’s mare Princess Queenie. She is a big, big two year old! She is a lovely girl and we love watching her grow each day. Wassini is exceptionally well balanced, uphill and athletic. She loves to work in hand, and I cannot wait to start her performance career.

I also met Cassini II in Germany and he is a monster! He seems much larger than 16.3hh. He was very well mannered and a gorgeous boy.

As Wassini is going throug her busy two year old stage, photos are difficult to get! However, we do have a couple on the website:

Karen Reid has the Cassini II semen; as of this fall it is $1900/LFG. I believe that is 3 doses, and you have to send back what you don’t use. I heard that his semen “sold out” in Germany this year and may be difficult to get ahold of in the future. I was going to use it on a mare next year, but I may be going with a different stallion now.

Arizonard: So glad to hear that you have Wassini! She is a very special girl; I see from her photos that she looks a lot like her mom. Can’t wait to hear how she does in the show-ring!

Princess Queenie is a lovely broodmare. Wassini looks like she’s going to be a powerful jumper, but with those genes, how could she not be?!

Thanks SJUSA and HHR. Those terrible photos don’t do her any justice, I will be sure to post new ones when we get some that are more recent, and more flattering!

We are really pleased with her. We don’t do many jumpers so this will be a very exciting journey. Not sure what trainer we will use as of yet. We have tossed the idea around of breeding her as a three year old and start her as a 4 year old. We’ll see. If I could get my hands on some Casall semen I wouldn’t think twice!

Cassini II’s everywhere ! This is a great thing for North America ! He bred 420 mares in Europe last year, more than any other stallion ! I love both of my full sisters. The first one was Va site champion mare last year and this years full sister ( video clip below) seems to be even better !

I was fortunate enough to be in on the ground floor regarding this stallion. I was the first to have a Cassini II baby in North America after the Germans convinced me to breed my mare in Holstein to him before I imported her. They told me he could be better than Cassini I in the long run , so I believed them , bred the mare and they were right ! Amazing the info and knowledge they have so early regarding these stallions.

I can’t wait to see your Cassini II from Ulissa Bonnie !

I’ve been fascinated by Cassini II for about a year now. My hopes are to breed my TB/Holsteiner mare (by Sally Hinkle’s Sonic in CT) to him in a couple years. Have only heard rave reviews of him. I’m so envious of those of you who have seen him in person!

Reece, I am somewhat confused. You are very vocal that you (and all serious breeders) breed Holsteiners to be International jumpers and are very adament that any Holsteiner that can ‘only’ be a hunter is a failure. Yet here is your older Cassini II that is, as per Bonnie, in training to be a hunter, and you are raving about the cross?

This is not a judgment against C II, who I think is terrific, nor against breeding hunters, which I do.

Harold, My daughter and I have the mare here in Charlotte. The mare is such a beautiful mover we decided to make a hunter out of her… just like Cunningham who is a Cassini I son and jumps the moon, the mare is very talented. It was my decision to make her a hunter. I also have a beautiful black Campesino/Latano II/Caletto II colt who is going to make a very good hunter because of his lovely movement.

Hello “Harold” . I don’t know where you get your information but I don’t feel, nor am I adament, about a Holsteiner that is doing the Hunters is a failure.

I bred my Cassini II mare and got a foal and was planning on breeding her again when Bonnie and her daughter talked me into sending her to them to ride. She is Bonnie’s daughters (Anna Lisa Smith) mount to do whatever she wants with her. She is a very good jumper but if they want to show her in the hunters, that’s fine too. She’s only 5 and the hunter courses will be good for her to get educated to show life. Bonnie and Anna Lisa have another very good Cassini II mare that is doing the jumpers.

I do breed Holsteiners to be international jumpers but when they are not , they can also do many other things. Dressage , hunters , eventing etc.

Except for Holsteiner how else can a Cassini II offspring be registered? Any other stud book accept him so one can register the foals?
Serioulsly considering him for my mare but I’m stumped on the registration possibilities.
Help.

Thanks

Well, I can tell you that OLD NA/ISR will NOT accept him. It really was frustrating, as they have an inspection close to me, the mare is already approved with them etc. They told me that his 100 day test scores were not high enough for me to get a single use breeding permit for him. Frustrating.

There is a Zweibruecken stallion named Cobiere by Cassini II - Cascavelle that was Champion stallion of the Zweibruecken (RPSI) approval in Germany. I do have a huge dark buckskin mare by him and she is a super jumper and also moves very well aside of a lovely character.

Here are some links to Cobiere by Cassini II x Cascavelle

He was a very nice stallion, he was sold to Gestuet St. Ludwig

and this is my mare by Cobiere with her first foal, she is 17 hh and a very dark buckskin:

Ha!
So RPSI would accept him then. RPSI is my registry of choice so that would be great.
Thanks!
