Cell phone holder for riding?

Hi all- What do you use? I’d like a belt clip type to use with my iphone 7+, I don’t want to change my current case- all I can seem to find are compatible with Otterbox or Lifeproof and I just want something I can put my lower profile case in. Thanks for your help!

Check etsy. There are lots of custom items there and many of the sellers will do special orders to fit a size you want. I have several different phone holders for the car/truck and my person that I have ordered from etsy sellers and I have been very happy with all the items.

Be careful with a belt clip. I’d prefer one that you feed the belt through so it can’t fall off. I’ve lost a much smaller cell phone by trusting a belt clip to stay attached. By some miracle we did find it… deep in the woods after a trail ride. It was all intact, it just slipped off.

I now go for the riding tights with side pockets on my thigh (Kerrits Ice Fil tights). Or in the cooler weather, I ride in a fleece zip-up that has zip pockets, and close my phone in there. I’ve also used a runner’s belt (Spibelt), but I find I have to keep the phone on my back, or it flops around. The tights are my favorite option at the moment, plus they’re super comfortable (they’re basically leggings!).

belt clips suck IMO, and I’ve tried all the around the waist gadgets and they all seem like they get in the way except for the sort of pricey GoVelope. Also not a fan of the one tha tclips on the side of the boot either. The GoVelope was the most comfy but my phone barely fit even w/o the case and it was a pain to get to. I ride alone so I use RoadID, which likes to mistake 20m circles for inactivity and threatens to send an alert out to everyone while I am frantically trying to get the phone out and cancel the alert. Fun times.

So now I do the cheaper version of the kerrits breeches - Ododos yoga pants on amazon, $20, big stretchy side pocket on each side, lots of colors and super comfy. As a side perk, the phone is completely encased in the pocket and doesn’t move for riding (Galaxy 7). I may have to come up with something as we transition between yoga pants side pocket and cold enough for jacket pocket, but for now this is 1000X better than any prior solution!

I prefer riding tights with side pockets too, but the Horse Holster seems practical and I think you can slide it onto your belt, attach it to your thigh, or use a cross body strap.

When it’s cool enough, I prefer to put my phone in my vest pocket. But if it’s not cool enough and I’m riding alone, I use this guy. It’s great. It is highly secure, and the placement is minimally in the way for riding and safety.

This was based off a huge topic I opened in a tack discussion group back in January. There were some great options, but this was by far the best choice.

I use a runners belt - essentially a loop of stretchy lycra with built in pockets.

Nite Ize sideways belt clip holder.

It will not come off your belt.

My friend wore out the velcro on hers after 2 1/2 years, just replaced it.

They’re $12 or $15 bucks.

Wow everyone this is awesome! I totally agree I think a clip would not keep it on. I have a runner’s belt too it’s not terrible. Thank you thank you I’m going to check these out!

I also use one of these. (This brand, specifically, spibelt.com.)
The caveat is that it’s a bugger to get your phone out. If you take a lot of photos or have an earbud in one ear, this isn’t a great option.

Flip Belt! any size phone will slide in and stay put, no bouncing. They’re great.

Right now I’m using a runner’s armband cell phone holder and strapping it around my lower leg. It has two zip pockets, so I can put the phone in one, and I can carry some treats and a whistle and a packet of tissues in the other. Amazon has a lot of choices for under $12 or so.

I’ve also used the Cashel Ankle Safe; I had the smaller size and used it for about 8 years until it pretty much fell apart.

I just ordered the Botori tights that have a mesh side pocket on the thigh for your cell phone and it’s visible all the time because the pocket is mesh

DH and I love the Horse Holsters, and I have gotten one of those flip belts but haven’t tried it yet – will when it gets cooler.

I use a Turtleback case for my iPhone7 with Otterbox Commuter case. I got the vertical with the rotating clip, and clip it to the top of my boot. The metal clip is very strong and tight, so it doesn’t come off.

Look for the one with slim case fit.

I clip to my boot because I don’t wear a belt (my breeches are the tights type, so no belt loops), and it is uncomfortable to clip to my waistband (really bounces in sitting trot).

There’s a lot of great gadgets and pants in here I’ll have to check out. I just got back into riding this summer. I’m a trail rider; I’ve just been wearing jeans that have buttoned flaps on the back pockets to hold my cell phone. I found the jeans at a thrift store.

These are pretty popular in my area: https://blackknightaccessories.com/collections/frontpage

I have one, and have unclipped the little wristlet loop. There are two zipped pockets, one of which easily holds my iPhone. There’s a flap on the back that your belt goes through, and it conveniently has a snap at the bottom which makes it easy to take on and off of without having to undo your belt.

The flap is big enough for a wide belt, and I personally find it more stable when I’m wearing a wide belt rather than a skinny one.

I use an arm band and put it around my upper calf. Easy to reach, bingo bango.

I use my festival belt for riding! It’s great as I use an LG and they are quite big once you put an otterbox case on them.

They look like this. Mine isn’t this one as I bought mine at an actual festival, but you can also buy them in leather as well. I can even jump in mine when I’m wearing it as it’s flush with my body and doesn’t move.

I have one. I tried, but I hate it. Does NOT stay put on my leg. Clip for waistband is not secure. Slides down my leg/pulls waistband down when I dismount.

I have a leather cell phone holder I bought at the local Tack Horsey Yard Sale. It is horizontal, has loops on the back to slide a belt through, and velcros closed. It has two sections so I could carry something in addition to my BIG IPhone 6+. Love it but, like everything on your waist, it seems to be in the way of my elbows when I ride. If I slide it to the back it bounces. In the front it bounces. BUt I deal with it.

In the winter phone goes in jacket pocket.

And yes, last winter I needed it when I came off and could not get up. Called my neighbor. Big, bad bruise all on my side. SO now I am never without it - just like my helmet.
