Here’s US team rider and judge Jessica Ransehousen heavily criticising judges.
She also calls out Isabell for calling out judges.
There’s just nothing new under the sun.

Doesn’t make it right
I applaud CJ for going for it! We should celebrate that she is a good rider who has the means. I’m a tad jealous I admit but she’s made her $$ and she’s made her goals and she’s worked bloody hard at becoming a good rider and she has every right to pursue it. I hope she give everyone out there a run for the money.
On the other topic, we need to make judging more transparent - and I for one won’t be assuming that the “Powers that be” will always make the right call. Questioning judgement (not just of dressage scores) is a good thing for all of us. It doesn’t mean the judgement was wrong, but it means that it is open for scrutiny - which will help keep all of us honest.
I think you’re right, and that there’s probably some truth to this which is sort of sad. For me personally though, what mostly rubs me the wrong way about CJ is that there seems to be a significant lack of love for the horse. They’re all a vehicle or a means to an end with her and when they’re no longer useful (or broken), they’re gone. Now I’m not saying that’s necessarily ‘wrong’ or that she’s the only big name doing this (because she surely is not), just that it hits a nerve for me and makes me just a little more prone to rolling my eyes when I hear she’s purchased another $$$$$$ horse.
Are you at a barn together? I can’t really assess how much people love their horses unless I know them pretty well through boarding or spend a lot of time with them at shows.
Indeed; it would be hard for someone to make that assessment without some familiarity beyond news blurbs.
I think the previous COTHer can make some inferences based on CJ’s public statements.
“seems to” does not imply reality. Please be careful when assessing what others do or don’t do with their horses. The riders do not get to choose what news articles say or how they get quoted.
They may not have control over what a specific writer chooses to put in an article about them. However, many of these riders have blogs that are popular and they can certainly control the content there. Same with Facebook pages.
If you guys are going to throw stones about the way Charlotte treats her horses and claim that it’s been published online, then please, by all means share the links so that you may enlighten the rest of us. Otherwise, it’s just hearsay.
It all just smacks of petty jealousy. Should countries be helping develop their own talent from the ground up? Of course! Should they also take advantage of opportunities for top riders to secure experienced international horses? Of course! If CJ has the personal resources to buy ththe horse, and she rides him well enough to get qualifying scores, what’s the downside for American dressage?
The person I’m referring to didn’t say CJ is mistreating her horses. Perhaps that COTHer will chime in, but their comments can be read as CJ making it all about the goal and not about the horse.
If the US wants to improve, then the powers that be need to help some of their best talent find good horses and sponsors. Steffen is very lucky in that regard. What about Guenter? He’s an amazing rider with incredible finesse, but does he have a top international horse?
Where would he and the team be if he had the same type of horses that CJ does?
Christ
Enough about Guenter. You’ve made it clear you think Charlotte should just give him her horses and sit on the couch.
He has a horse owned by a student that he has high hopes for if the news reports are correct. Sounds like he’s already got a sponsor.
Not everyone has a top horse all the time. That’s the way it goes.
I was discussing Nicole Uphoff with a friend recently, since she hasn’t had an international caliber horse since Rembrandt. She “officially” retired in 2013, after years of trying to get another top horse. It just never happened. She’s only fifty…I might sponsor her before anyone else hahaha I don’t care that she’s German, I like winning :lol::lol:
nobody said any of the things you are implying about CJ giving away horses or sitting on the couch.
you’re just making this up because you are upset because somebody touched a nerve somewhere. Everybody has an opinion and can state it if they wish, as many have on this thread already,
I don’t think anyone is making things up, which you keep accusing people of, and I also don’t think people are unnerved or upset by your comments.
I do think people are pointing out your comments are weird. and getting weirder.
And you do sound really irrationally envious of this one particular rider.
You keep making weird implications, and then when people call you on it you say “Who? Me? I didn’t say that. did anyone hear me say that?”
Like, it’s funny, honestly, because it’s odd. Your behaviour is really odd.
absolutely you and others are making things up as no one ever stated specifically that they thought CJ should give away her horses or sit on the couch.
That"s a very odd comment to say when no one ever implied it.
