Chasing Time (Race Hunter ‘19)

I am so mad I didn’t get my wagers in! Argh! I completely lost track of time and opened the TwinSpires app just in time to catch him crossing the wire with daylight behind him!

Good boy, Chase!

I played him across the board, won $20.52.

And $5.25 on my share of his winnings.

Impressive race, less than a second off the track record.

It was an absolute perfect trip/ride.
So happy to see Chase back in action & winning.
Missed the actual race, forget they bumped the races up due to weather, so had to settle for the replay.
MRH group was going absolutely bonkers  loved it!!

Looks like he’s trying the turf next at my old stomping grounds.

What do you guys think of trying him on the turf?

There’s plenty of turf breeding in his family on both sides. It seems like a good idea to give it a try.

Why not give it a try? He seems to be good enough to win in allowance company, not quite good enough for stakes company on the dirt. Maybe he will turn into a monster turf horse!

I’m really excited for him to try turf. He’s a trier with enough reason to believe he will do ok. Plus he seems to have the right brain for Kentucky Downs, which can throw some of them for a loop.

I’m just bummed I don’t live there anymore!

I’m looking forward to it & think he should do well.

Chase will be entered for 7th race next Saturday, 6 1/2f on the turf.
Fingers crossed he takes to it, as it’ll open more possibilities for him.

You know what was most frustrating about that race? I don’t think we learned anything about his turf ability. I mean, he’s not a world beater on the turf, but I certainly wouldn’t be discouraged from trying it again if the right race is written.

I hope finances don’t force MRH to run him for a tag next time out.

Brain surgery should be somewhere in his schedule. He’s not sire material, not even in some small racing region like Washington or N. Mexico.

He reportedly has a cooperative and equable temperament - not why I am suggesting it - but sometimes there’s a marked improvement in performance afterwards. Plus it’s going to need to be done anyway once he retires and MRH looks to place him in a new home. Assuming they don’t drop him into the claiming ranks, that is.

There certainly is no harm in gelding him. Although right now I’d wait for a logical time for a break.

The only reason I worry about them dropping him for a tag is because of the financials they posted for this race. I don’t recall how much they keep in the reserve fund but clearly he is not replenishing it to their liking.

Honestly I think the financials aren’t correct.
Not sure how he burned through $24K in 6 weeks.
He’s won or been in the money every race except one this year, 7 out of 8 starts.
Something isn’t right with what MRH posted.

I highly doubt they’ll run him for a tag anytime soon.
He’s one of their most consistent runners right now.

Now Cumberland Falls is one that needs to go.

The problem is he is not picking up big checks finishing 3rd and 4th. But still, he’s earned $200k in the last 9 months and they only distributed funds 3 times. Even after everyone takes their cut, he is paying his bills. But they keep saying his reserve funds are low. :woman_shrugging:

Surely in his financial documents it says the desired reserve level. They are usually transparent about those things.

I just listened to Torres’ post race recap and he said he liked the turf. One of the better post race interviews in the sense that he said exactly what happened and what I saw, instead of the typical vanilla jockey response of, “he ran good we just got beat.”
