Check out this ranch for sale in Northern California....

for ONLY 28.5 Million!!!

The website posted below has lots of pictures of the house, barn, ring and other facilities.

It’s only about 15 minutes from where I live, so I am definitely going to drive up and take a look - that will be the closest I’ll come to owning it, that’s for sure…

Here’s the writeup about it which was in our paper today: (gotta love that ‘real estate speak’!!)

Lindy Farms Ranch is the perfect spot for the serious horse aficionado or the horse lover who wants to live in Silicon Valley and has a few bucks. The ranch began in 1992 as a hobby – a few horses to trail ride. It has since expanded to breed, train, show and sell horses. The tack room in the barn has an entire wall covered with ribbons and awards won by Lindy Farms horses.

The remodeled house, within five miles of shopping and schools, is comfortable and casual. You almost expect to see a sign saying, “Thank you for NOT removing your shoes.”

When you’re not using the riding arena, you could enjoy the calm of the half-acre pond, lounge beside the pool, or mount your favorite horse and ride over miles of groomed trails that include one ridge with a 180-degree view.

Whatever your vantage point, this estate impresses with its size and understated charm.

Does it have it’s own water supply?

ONLY 36 ACRES??? YIKES!

OMG a 20,000sq. ft arena?!?! i want that pond.

i may be unrealistic, and maybe i can’t change the world. But who the heck is going to stop me from trying?
Those who don’t succeed in life are often the ones who become very wise.

According to Erin, there are 3,800 members on this board. That being said, a mere $7,800.00 each would be required although in Canadian funds, the amount would escalate to $12,246.00. I’m quite confident one of our quick witted lawyer members would be delighted to look after the closing details for you.

Now that I have figured out the $$ breakdown, perhaps someone else can figure out the square footage ownership divided by 3,800 people. That’s a lot of work being done by 4 1/2 bathrooms though isn’t it?

Devildog20:

That house [Scaleby] brings a few chuckles as its been on and off the market for literally 10 years. One other residence of similar note, sold in the last few years, was “Lockesly” now used for parties and weddings.

http://www.lockesly.com/

It was once the home of Mr & Mrs. Emil Bernhard Jung, convicted in 1999 on a variety of illegal importation charges with jumper and driving horses from Germany. The related farm was seized by the government and sold at auction in several parcels.

What a gorgeous layout. I love when I look at “horse property” listings. Yah yah about the house, now what does the barn look like.

Dublin, that is too beautiful. Do you think we could all pool everything we have and make it into the CoTH Bed and Breakfast or something???

Now the desert really looks icky.

“The older I get, the better I used to be.”

This one’s only a few minutes away from our current abode, but definitely on the other side of the tracks.

View #3 on the virtual tour is probably the best view of the “barn” - why don’t they ever have enough barn photos??

Future Casa de Farfel?

Quinn, given the unfortunate currency exchange, perhaps we can all agree on one of Moffat Dunlap’s properties. It does strike me though that the better value seems to be in Virginia.

Dublin, Have you ever heard of Garrod Farm? They are in Saratoga on top of a mountain. They have a riding stable/boarding facility/winery. We go up there often for vaulting competitions. I wonder if this “understated” facility is the one I see from the road…It’s really something, it looks like a little town. Should anybody have so much money?!

Thanks for the tour.

Wow…that’s all I can say…WOW!!!

I don’t think even Princess Jade would turn her nose up at living there!

Heidi, it’s not polite to drool at one’s desk, is it?

I think I’ll stick to Canadian real estate. By my figures, that 28 million dollar ranch would be a mere 2 million here in Ontario given the deep weather discount we Canucks receive.

WOW is right!! This is a beautiful place. One of the dot commers moving out? Hmmm, if we all pooled our funds, we could even live on the property, along with our horses. rusty, no one would give a hoot about manure. The entire Calif. Clique and friends could be setup here. In those hills, we could trail ride forever. Looks like reining or cutting horses from the tack room…Wonder who’s place it is?

If we all work together, we can have a Canadian headquarter (where is Abbotsford?) as well as ones on the West and East coasts of the US!

I LOVE the house on Casa de farfel’s compound… sigh

Do any of the VA folk read the Washingtonian regularly? In the back of that they sell all of these estates from Mclean, Middleburg, Chevy Chase, Potomac etc etc. I have to admit that I subscribe mostly so I can look at those houses! WOWZA! (ok ok and the personal ads are pretty darn funny as well. )

The only improvement I would make would be a gorgeous cross country course winding around the property

(sigh) I think that’s my dream property right there!

I am unimpressed with the house. ESPECIALLY the kitchen, which for 28mill I would be expecting it to be gormet and HUGE, when actually its fairly small. No high ceilings? I’m very under impressed. I think its overpriced based on the pictures of the house. Yall folk need to come to Middleburg, VA and see what a REAL $28.5 million house looks like!!

Just some perspective - this is located in an area where if you look Reeeally hard and Reeeally long, you might come across a 2 bedroom fixer for ~$800k. Oh, and you’ll have to act fast, because there are already 4 offers on it above asking.

Sure is a nice place!
