Chewy Dog Food

Well, the experiment with Chewy ends. I switched my guys from 4Health to American Journeys dog food… Had an order scheduled to ship today and I got a phone call telling me they are out of stock.

That totally ruins the convenience factor. At least with Tractor Supply 4Health I can always drive to another store or buy another size bag if it’s out of stock.

Off to TC for dog food.

That is too bad. I switched back over to Chewy when Wag moved to Amazon and quit carrying my food. Chewy has been really great so far for me. I just started doing auto ship (usually I “manually” go and order when I’m about to run out) and the first couple times they’ve emailed a week out to remind me and have had my order to me on time. If things ever were to go south I’d be SOL as it seems fewer and fewer places carry my food.

This was only my second autoship and with Christmas coming up, I wanted to the order delivered before the weekend. It was supposed to be shipped yesterday, this morning I got the phone call.

If you call them and speak to a rep they will make it right.

I’m sad to hear that, I have had nothing but incredible experiences with Chewy. They’ve been super-quick to reply and immediately made right whatever was wrong. Plus I live near one of their warehouses so my orders arrive next day.

I also swapped from 4-health to american journey- have not had issues, but I know they ran a BOGO sale on it for black friday, they may have sold more than expected.

I’ve had a shipment since the BOGO at Thanksgiving. This is their own brand, how can they be out of stock? It also means I can’t buy it elsewhere. I was already thinking about switching, one dog is itchy and their coats are less shiny. than they were on the 4Health. Oh well…I really liked the convenience.

A rep called me, that’s how I found out they flat out don’t have it and wanted to substitute with another food. When I voiced my displeasure by saying that I bought from them mostly for the convenience and if they’re out of stock it’s not convenient…she gave me a line that the store could be out of my food too. Well yes, but then I buy a smaller/larger bag or I can just go to the next store over. Or order it online from Tractor Supply for home delivery. I have lots of different options than just, sorry, no can do.

My coohound is really, really picky and hates food changes. The lab will eat anything, the collie will always eat Purina Pro Plan Sensitive in a pinch and it won’t bother her.

I have had nothing but phenomenal service from them. I have had 2 separate instances where I have contacted them and they sent me a whole case of the food in question shipping out that day. They really have been good.

Sorry to hear they were out of your food, but stuff happens. This company has phenomenal customer service reviews. Perhaps so many people were turned onto them and their dog food that supply really did fall short of supply.

Chewy.com has the best customer service of any company I have ever used. Will never order from anyone else, if I can get what I need from them. Every time but once, items I ordered from them were delivered the next day. I love Chewy!! Any store/company can be out of an item.

This is their own brand. No one else makes it or sells it. You can love them all you want, they lost my $125/month business. Their customer service when they called to let me know it was out of stock sucked. Big time. And they only called the day after it was supposed to be shipped…the day it was due to arrive.

Day 3 of the dogs back on their old 4Health grain free dog food…and their scratching has stopped. I was afraid we had a flea problem (even though they have Seresto collars and are on Sentinel) or they were allergic to something outside. All three of them were constantly scratching. No, it must have been the American Journeys food. I’m really disappointed.

Oh well, Tractor Supply is less than 5 miles away. No big deal.

I haven’t bought food from them but I did get a few other items. I found the quality to match the price, low price = low quality. I’m back to getting 3-m products from the local store.

If the food wasn’t working for your dogs, that’s a good reason to switch. But I don’t see what that really has to do with the fact that Chewy ran out of a food and didn’t notify you in what you felt was sufficient time. Sort of two separate issues there.

I’ve never had a problem with Chewy and have used them for years. You clearly were unsatisfied with your experience and it’s your prerogative to vote with your feet (as you did). I don’t find one order snafu as upsetting as you seem to find it, nor would I drop using Chewy over a single bad experience (because I find the convenience is really a benefit). But again, to each his/her own.

Definitely two different issues and the second (finding the cause of the scratching) is a very positive result of Chewy not having the food in stock.

I can’t order from Chewy for dog food in the future because only Tractor Supply sells 4Health and that is the dog food I’m feeding. I would order from them again, it just won’t be dog food. I did order a cat tree several months ago from Chewy.

Chewy was bought out by Petsmart earlier this year. Said they were going to act as a separate entity but now read more issues since then.

I had more issues prior to Chewy being bought out… which is definitely backwards from how it usually goes.

I am sorry you had to deal with this. I have only had good experiences with them so far.

It was actually blessing in disguise. The scratching started long enough after I started the new food that I didn’t connect the two.
