Dear Chloe,
Just have your baby, and the unflattering comments will stop. Hold it in, and you’re just asking for it!
Y’all are KILLING me. You know, she is prob actually thinking that too!!!
I have to shower now Chloe. Don’t do anything while I’m gone…
I think you are safe junebug!
Hurry up Chloe–have that baby while June Bug is in the shower. That’l teach her.
OK…I have been lurking on this thread the entire time, but enough already - Chloe (and Dove) have your babies already…we are waiting anxiously to see what you two have been cooking…COME ON GIRLS!!!
Also, as a sidenote, that poor mini looks incredibly uncomfortable tonight…maybe, all three will go…
All kidding aside, while we may make jokes, we know that inside every breeder’s heart is the anxiety before a delivery. Just know that we understand and may God bless the two ladies-in-waiting for a safe delivery. They are just putting on the final eyelashes so the babies are as beautiful as they can be. Thanks for sharing your girls.
Obviously the shower thing didn’t work…
Can I ask what video capture device you’re using? I’m having a heck of time finding something that will work on my computer
Thank you foxtrot! And I am a bundle of nerves until everything is out and standing/peed/pooped/placenta passed etc. The birth itself is still the scariest for me (for lack of a better description) it never gets old, never gets less nerve wracking does it?!
Junebug - it is Dazzle (and just the plain old plain old - not the expensive one or anything fancy), around $40 at Best Buy. I had to get a second one for Dove’s cam.
My hat’s off to you, Anissa for doing this alone–except for Dove who’s a special case. I was alone when my mare foaled, but had help close by. Fortunately, everything went by the book, but I wouldn’t want to do it alone again. I guess I was too dumb to realize so many things could go wrong.
Hmmm…I have Dazzle, and I just can’t get it to work. I shall have to investigate that more over the weekend so I can get my mare up.
I’m calling it a night. Hope you have safe happy foalings!!
Been there done that too, and I think reading “Blessed are the Broodmares” didn’t help either. I was a mess and thank God everything went ok.
Ok someone has to do it, and I am calling Annissa out. I think she is putting us all on one of those Candid Camera shows. The Marestare cam is actually an already taped video of Ms. Cranky mare and she has it on a permanent loop so that’s all we see. And they will laugh at all of us sitting here in front of our computers all shriveled up and sleep deprived watching this loop waiting on a foal that is already here and out playing.
Come on Annissa admit it, you’re messing with us, and we have all been had!
How sad is this? It took me until TODAY to figure out what the “quick reply” was and how much easier it is!!!
I say I’m alone, but I have an EXCELLENT support system in my vets, parents, and friends that are close by. If I need help I can get it here quickly. And Joe (best support of all) is just a phone call away - he is the best sounding board around!. In a way I prefer to be alone during the foaling, I’m pretty bonded to my mares and the foaling just enhances this bond. Hard to explain. I love it late at night out in the barn. Now that being said - I wish they would get a MOVE on, as I would RATHER not be out there quite THAT late!
Okay, help your computer illiterate cohorts. What is quick reply?
I WISH I was Jaeger!!! Really, there is no baby from her on the ground at my house! Only two babies are the ones that were born earlier this month. Cranky mare just needs to get over herself and cough up the goods! LOL
As for getting it all to work… I’m an idiot and had to have Heather at MS remote into my computer to get me up and running on BOTH cams… she is awesome like that!
Night Junebug - Chloe will prob still be here in the am justlike she is LOL. (but don’t think Dove will last).
quick reply - hit the little paper/pen icon in the lower right hand corner of the post (near edit and quote). It opens the quick reply screen at the bottom of the page. you don’t have to wait for the whole thing to load etc. No emoticons though I don’t think… and it pops right up and you can instantly read the ohter messages that have been posting while you were typing…
Been watching Dove. She’s putting her hay in both water buckets. Maybe she wants Shredded Wheat for breakfast. How about that–a mare that cooks.
down… now resting, or otherwise…was mighty uncomfy just prior…
ok, update since i was just in the stall…
Dove was down and she is NOT comfortable at all. Her belly was doing the little hiccup/push things that they do before the water breaks… does that make sense? She left a significant amount of feed behind from dinner (not normal). I don’t think it will be too much longer (famous last words I know). Light sweat on shoulders/flanks
Chloe is exactly the same and has no changes… lol
