Well, I’m here again watching this stubborn mare (refuse to) give birth. I have a paper to write and a test to study for tomorrow, so I should be up for while, hopefully until Chloe pops!

We’ve had a stormy evening here in North Texas, and it has inspired my mare. She was 250 Ca and 7.2 pH this morning. I noticed a thick drop (almost wax) on her teat when I gave her the bedtime alfalfa… so tested again. Ca is up to 500 and pH plummeted to 6.2.
The wind is ridiculous, the air muggy, we expect another big batch of storms to hit in a few hours and we are under a tornado watch til 6 am. And Miss Abby just might think this is baby-making weather.
Okay, Chloe you better get busy and have that baby by 12:30! … (Chloe stands in corner) sigh :no:

well, I forgot to turn out the lights… so right after my last post, I went back out to turn those lights out. Mind you this was like 15 minutes after I’d been out to give her alfalfa and a snack, and had checked her carefully. Well, she was down and she was having her foal! Sneaky mare!
The filly was born at 11:25. Placenta has passed, mare has had banamine, just waiting to make sure she stays comfortable before I crash.

Y’all do know what she is waiting for right??? I have to be at the Court House at 9 am when court starts. It is a 30 min drive from my house to the courthouse and get parking. I also need to shower and get dressed. She is just about to hit that threshold where I will be late to get a baby on the ground, make sure that the baby is up, nursing, pooping, etc and all is well with mommy for me to be able to get all that done and be at the courthouse in time. But frot he past hour or so she has looked for all the world that she is close. She has been shifting weight back and forth, snaking her neck, walking the stall etc… so yep that is what she is waiting for.
are you leaving her inside today so we can watch for you?
I just got up. My mind is so “Chloefied” that I dreamed I wrote a computer program called Chloe Cleans A Computer. (I have no idea how to write a computer program.)
Just as an update… she has HUGE globs of wax this am… and y’all can see how restless she is. I’m not bothering to test milk (it is kind of a no brainer at this point LOL). I have no clue if she is going to be one that will go during the day - but with my luck she will.
I can’t get out of court, but will leave her in and on cam today. I can receive text messages on my cell (the 814 number) if someone can text me updates occassionally. I keep my phone on silent so it won’t bother anyone in Court. Obviously can’t call or answer calls, nor can I necessarily respond to a text right away. I’d call in sick, but I have two cases that are exteremly touchy/important and can’t leave them with someone else.
Court is usually done by noon (I say usually… ) and I’ll come home immed afterwards to check on her again. Sometimes we are done earlier.
I’m also going to wait till the last possible sec to leave for work. I don’t THINK she will go during the day… but you never know. She is also yawning/licking a lot while I was down there… sigh
OH!!! And if someone texts me an update please post that they’ve done so… I don’t want to get 100 text messages telling me she is “ok” in a 5 min period of time LOL. But if something happens, or once an hour or so if someone can say “she is down, she is good, baby is out…” whatever! LOL THANK YOU!!!
Trakmom - that is too funny, what kind of things would this computer program do?? Pretend that it would install updates, but takes 10 days to download??? LOL
Now we feel responsible - not just vicariously living of your experience. Who is at the farm, anybody? You’ll be dying to know what’s going on - hope you can concentrate!

No one is there… that is the problem! My dad is also having to work (not that he would be much help - I’m the only “horsey” person in the family… he could call the vet, or do the basics, but wouldn’t know much beyond the basics) and mom is 1) sick and 2) has recently had hand surgery so she can’t come up.
I’ll be able to concentrate (that is what makes my clients nuts - at least the ones that are always trying to get away with stuff LOL) and if the couple of cases weren’t so important I would not go in -but too much is riding on them and the clients are sneaky if I’m not there to keep them in line LOL.
I really really don’t think that she iwll go during the day… I think it WILL be early evening though.
Is my cam frozen? Or is Chloe as still as a statue now?
Not frozen, just trying to be still… I think sometimes mares get REALLY still/quiet when they are close - esp the ones that are really active prior.
