… he sure as hell deserves respect now.
SUPERB job by Victor riding with the saddle that loose & far back. That could have been a disaster.
Good horse, Chrome!

Anyone know where I can find a replay? Just missed the race.
Go to Bloodhorse.com.

I’ve always been a quite follower of CC. I have also thought he often times wasn’t given the respect he rightly deserved & had earned.
After completely demolishing one of(if not thee) best fields of horse to run in the DWC, setting a track record, making it looks so damn easy, all while his saddle was slipping further & further back he sure as hell deserves respect now.

Ok, let’s not get carried away here.
That was hardly the best DWC field ever and the track is a couple of years old with a handful of races run at that distance, so the NTR is not a huge surprise.
Not to take away from a nice performance, but let’s come back down to earth here.

Nice win!
SportArab - Bloodhorse has the replay. Check the article.
Oops - not yet - someone else had it on FB.
Try later. Bloodhorse usually has the replays in an article shortly afterwards. :o

Freaking amazing! Chrome is a superstar :tickled_pink:

Hey, you are a wet blanket. This is a Chromology congratulations party! And besides how many big name racing stallions have run with a bucking cinch.
Chrome covered 25 meters more ground than the runner up:eek:
thats what, like 80 feet more. The only horse that ran longer was Frosted who covered 2 meters more.

that may have made him run faster. Art Sherman may have inadvertently hit on a new tactic. Expect to see this more in the future, jock pulls a strap at top of stretch and saddles goes back and horse takes off. They’ll have to figure out a way to note this as a piece of equipment on the race card… FTSS… First Time Saddle Slip.
Amazing race! In short, it’s a great story of newcomers overcoming a lot of negative nancys to become the best in the world. Negative nancys, ie disapproving naysayers, are not unique to just racing and are pervasive in the horse world, which makes CC’s triumph even that more important! Drvmb poster is an example of a negative nancy. Come on, there is no way anyone would ever intentionally loosen their girth while going 35 mph in the richest, most closely monitored race. Ridiculous notion and I hope you’re just having a very bad day for some reason / hope it gets better.
Go Chrome!!! So happy for his connections and excited for his rest of year and subsequent stud career, where he’ll have a chance to pass on his great attributes.
A “bucking strap” doesn’t make bulls run faster, it makes them buck. Or are you just having some fun? I wonder if the jockey could feel just how far the girth had slipped.
The race was amazing. I’m still hooten and hollering. The neighbors are going to think I’ve lost it.

Who’s the negative nancy, here? Lol.
I love this! Great win, for a great horse and jockey.

Hey I’m NOT a handicapper, just a casual racing fan. I was just going off what was being said on EVERY broadcast I saw. Handicappers & announcers were all stating that… take it as you want, won’t ruin my day.

So which is it?
He’s just a mediocre horse running with other mediocre horses or he’s actually that good to demolish the field all the while running a much further distance than the others?

I don’t know, that was a pretty nice field I would say. Either way, it was a very nice race.

You need to go buy a clue.
I’ve already stated it was a very impressive performance.
It wasn’t “the” finest DWC field assembled. Do yourself a favor and go back and look at the previous 22 odd runnings of the race, they are all up on YouTube.
The NTR is fairly meaningless considering this is only the second year that Meydan has had a dirt track and 10f is a not often carded distance.

Need to order new irony detectors for a couple of posters on this thread.

Darn, I was hoping this would work - it is a screen shot of Chrome after the wire showing just how far back the girth and saddle were. I used Facebook for the link.
Also, re another comment, a bucking strap makes a horse hunch up and buck, not run.
That was an impressive win in Dubai. And I was backing Frosted but I have to give credit to Chrome as he was really great in the race.

A slipped saddle is not good for either the horse or rider. BTDT.
So winning while running wide and with a slipped saddle shows that both jockey and horse were great. Oh wait I am not a Chrome fan, but I have to admit that great is great.
I’m simply amazed that the jockey did not end up under the horse with the saddle that loose. That just shows you what tkind of athlete they really are. The jockey had to stay dead center on that horse’s back or the saddle would have spun. The saddle slipping like that would have been a great excuse for not winning the race. And you know what ? It didn’t matter.
Makes you wonder what could have been had Chrome not had his foot torn up in the Belmont.
I’m so happy for his trainer most of all. He is a very down to earth blue collar trainer and it’s great to see someone like that get this big of a win.
