Comfiest boots for riding and stable work.

I’m FINALLY back in the saddle after breaking my arm and working my way back to riding 6 horses a day.

Sadly, my Ariats have decided to die this morning. They were on their last legs but I’m still annoyed that they only lasted 8 months, mainly because the last 3 months haven’t been spent riding and only been on a handful of times. These are the third pair I’ve had that haven’t made it through the year.

I need a pair of boots comfortable enough to walk in, as well as riding. Ariats have been my go to for years but the quality is getting worse and worse.

I also wear a ladies 11 or 11.5 depending on the shoe. So it needs to go up to size enormous

I’m not sure on the quality, but I’ve been eyeing the dublin line lately. Decent price and they sound comfy I’m the description🤷”â™€ï¸ theres a big sale on them on dover right now in the larger sizes (of course they’re bone dry on size 9😂)

How about Blundstones? If you give them a good treatment with Mink Oil or similar they are waterproof and should last well. I think they still have a guarantee that repairs/replaces them for free.

I am very happy with my Timberland ankle high hiking boots. Not too heavy but good ankle support and pretty comfortable. I have feet problems but can wear these all day.

My Dublin Pinnacles are going on year 4.

You simply can’t kill those suckers.

so, I have what I believe is a previous version of these boots. Mine are suede calves, and bought used 7(!!) years ago. I treat them like garbage, they go through mud and snow, and I even ride in them. I actually look forward to riding in them in the winter. They will not die. The exact style must be discontinued because I can’t find them anywhere but I would 100% say that that link is the updated version of them.

a barnmate has the ariat berwicks and they’re stunning, but much snugger in the leg than mine.

These https://www.equinavia.com/horze-sporty-rugged-jodhpur-boots-p-38005/p I love mine, paired with half chaps I live in them during the winter, tough and super comfortable.

I must have the worst luck or I’m extra rough on boots. I killed my pair of Dublin short boots in 3 months.

I don’t think it’s you. The tall boots seem to be a whole 'nother critter when it comes to quality.

If I was going for non-fancy paddocks, I’d probably pick one of the Ovation models, which seem to last reasonably well for the price. I also love the Ovation Moorland, but that’s closer to being a regular riding boot, so probably not what you’re looking for . . . ?

It needs to be able to be a regular riding model as well. Changing between riding boots and yard boots between every ride is just extra time during the already busy schedule I don’t have. Especially now it’s coming into summer here and I’m trying to get 6 worked before the heat of the day. Before I broke the zipper on my top boots (again) I was walking around in them but usually ended up half cripped by the end of the day.

I told my husband I need a groom and a pair of fancy lace-up top boots so I didn’t have this worry. He didn’t think it was funny

They never do.

I haven’t tried any of the the SmartPak Ada styles - I really don’t need any more boots! - but I think the lace-up tall boots look great, and aren’t expensive at all.

Maybe you should test them out - I mean, just for the sake of science?

I have a pair of Toggi “country boots”- the Calgary. Tall zip-up but with rounder toes and good arch support. They are oiled leather so won’t take a polish but are pretty waterproof and look very neat and tidy. Mine have lasted almost 3 years, but I try not to wear in mud or when hosing horse.

I love the lace up Ada’s ! I was so hesitant to buy them but fell in love with them no time to break in comfy and so adjustable.

As for me, I can’t wear long boots easily thanks to my ridiculously wide calves, so it’s short boots and chaps for me. I’m very happy with my Orvis Ultralight boots (view site to read reviews). Only used them one season but no sign of any wear. Avoid Snowbee Boots as I have heard a couple of negative views regarding this brand .

Gak! I was afraid somebody’d say this . . .

Bunch of enablers. :stuck_out_tongue:

That’s what I wear most of the time running around town. Keeps my feet warm even in below freezing temps. They look good with half-chaps. I’m rough on footwear and they’ve lasted since 2016. I busted through my Ariat all terrains in less than a year (soooo comfy, sadly)

For picking boots, for decades, after I broke my foot, Vasque woman’s waterproof hiking boots is what the Dr and foot store recommended:

They have been great for me for decades for work boots, last long and have had several pairs since, am on a new one now and is great for my feet.

Anyone tried the Ovation Moorland II boots? I took want a pair of boots comfy enough to wear all day, waterproof, and built to ride in.

Love, love, love the Moorland boots!

Very comfortable and good-looking. Best of all, they’re fitted enough to keep their shape, and don’t collapse at the ankle like so many of the casual work/ride styles do.

They’re holding up beautifully into their third year, though this is mostly just riding and walking. I like them too much to wear them in knee-high mud or do the messier barn chores in them.

Yeah, that is the reason why I have never bought those expensive, good looking boots. I am too lazy to switch footwear all the time, so for me, fall/winter/spring I wear my tall BOGs boots for stall mucking, getting horse in muddy paddock, and riding. They are very comfy and I can wear them all winter long in Maine winters, no cold toes.

Of course for lessons and such I go back to more polished footwear
