@beowulf, thank you for your kind words!
Congrats !!! Love your tall dark and handsome boy!
What a doll!! I love SB’s old timey heads. And especially, that drop of cold blood.
He’s a good boy.
Oh my! The dapples and luster of his coat give away what wonderful care you must give him
Wow, would never have guessed he’s 19! What a HANDSOME guy, those dapples are to die for!
Wow… he’s a very handsome boy.
Those eyes! That face! I just wanna smooch him!
Our second show moving up from the greens. Score was a very good boy today, strutting his stuff in the hacks ( a second in the show hack!), and showing good progression in our over fences. Some beauty clean flying changes today!
Lovely, lovely horse. Kindness personified.
congrats!!! Your horse is so well loved and such a handsome boy!!!
I love that last picture… happy horse, happy rider.
Wonderful, just wonderful.
OMG! Those trotter’s ears! I love him. Congratulations on your success, he’s wonderful. I have a pacer we used to race as my riding horse now. Or he would be if I could get my lazy backside out to the barn, once my shoulder is sound enough to throw my saddle up on 17hh, I’ll be out there, even if it’s for a nice walk around the trails.
Your horse is beautiful
I’ve always been super curious about Standardbreds but have only met one in person who really has experience with them. Just a lady who boarded her Standardbred stallion at a barn where I worked and he was an awesome horse! Trotted in races but you could also get on him and w/t/c easily. I always thought he was such a great horse, kind and energetic but easy going.
I’ve done countless Ottbs in my life but have always wondered about Standardbreds in the h/j world. I have zero experience with them and don’t know anyone really who has. I’ve seen a few YouTube videos of them trotting like 1.0m+ jumps lol. Why are they not more popular? I really have no idea.
Exactly! The best kept secret of the equine world. I think people are put off by the amount of time you have to put in to develop them as a riding horse…takes lots of time to change their musculature from that if a pulling breed to one of a riding horse, as well as to develop a canter. The journey is long, but rewarding.
the journey is what helps define a horsewoman from a rider
Yeah, I was going to remark about those wonderful, sweet ears. Just such a handsome guy and in such beautiful, healthy condition. Congratulations!
