Costco Horse Stuff...

I was on the Costco web site today, looking for one of those rubbermaid type garden sheds, and I see that they now are selling Barn Pros barn kits. Not sure why, but it struck me funny.

I can’t get horse feed at my local Costco, but I can order a horse barn! Okay then.

There’s a much bigger audience for barns than for horse feed. Barns can hold all sorts of livestock, supplies, motor vehicles, etc. Horse feed only feeds horses.

But for the record, my local Costco does sell horse feed. Not anything I’d personally want to feed a horse, just a super-basic super-cheap sweet feed, but horse feed nonetheless.

Wow Costco just moved in near me. I hope they get feed!

I lobbied our local Costco to carry Nutrena or Triple Crown (local brands) since I have to drive past them to pick up feed at Fleet Farm (where my choice is limited to Nutrena). But no luck.

My local walmart sells horse food. Just for kicks I looked at the label. It had so much molasses and sugar in it I think it would turn the calmest horse into a firebreathing monster!
However, they don’t sell wheelbarrows or shovels. What??

They also sell cars. There was an article on Yahoo yesterday about it. Last year they sold 400,000 cars, usually for about $4,000 per car less than the local dealers. No haggling, the price you see on the sticker is what you pay. They say they can do this because they make their money on memberships, etc so they can lose a few dollars on cars.

Costco doesn’t actually sell the cars…they provide a pre-negotiated price through regular dealers. It’s a similar program to something like TrueCar, etc. But it’s still a very nice benefit for their members!

Our costco stopped selling horse feed. I was able to get the senior feed for my older guys there and tinothy pellets, - until one day I could no longer find it. The sales rep in the store said they were no longer selling horse feed. Darn. It was a heck of a deal.

I love costco. We live up in the mountains in a community with very little shopping (grocery, hardware, home depot, tractor supply and a few more - and thats it. So once a month or so, we fill up the ice chests with ice and go off the mountain. Get a lot of salmon, wine (!) vegies etc, pack in the ice chests and travel back up the mountain. Love it !

Linda next time you go I’ll send you a list. Ha ha.

Wow, I had no idea Costco sold horse feed and Barns!!! I am thrilled about having a Tractor supply and a HomeDepot within range. I’d be giddy if I could buy a barn from Costco!

I think they’re a very good company. Their CEO (reportedly) earns under $1 mill, they pay their employees well, and they have good stuff. I buy things from them whenever I can.

20+ years ago I lived in a very small town about a 3 hour drive from the nearest Costco. When people found out you were going to the “big city” they would hand over a list and some cash. Seriously. People I didn’t even know (friend of a friend type) would ask you to pick up stuff from Costco. And I’d do it.

I bought dewormer at Costco once a long time ago. More recently they had 100 gallon Rubbermaid stock tanks and Cosequin. I really like the hand towels from the automotive section for grooming and other stuff around the barn.

Our Costco never sold horse feed, sadly.
I did see coffins for sale on their online side, they come with expedited shipping!

Ours used to sell horse Cosequin, but now just dog Cosequin. Which is fine, I feed that too :).

Horse feed from Costco or Walmart? PASS! Uck.

gee it is like Sears in 1900 when you could buy a complete house and it was shipped by railcar

The Costco closest to me doesn’t seem to carry any type of “farm” related things. I wish they did. I realize they are right in the middle of a large suburb, but they are only a few minutes from a pretty rural type of suburb (no city water/sewer and all have minimum lot sizes (to accommodate well/septic).

This made me laugh!

The weirdest thing I ever saw at the local Costco was a 7’ or 8’ high cast iron urn - the kind you’d put on your lawn if you had an actual estate - for about $2000. or so.

I get my Voltaren at Costco - two 150g tubes for around $20.

Well, my horse thinks it’s horse stuff: I buy the Nature’s Valley oat and honey granola bars, 96 in a box for $12, for horse treats. He LOVES them! Just show him one in the wrapper and he’s slobbering. Added benefit is I can eat them too!

Our horses are also crazy about those and our dog likes them much better than carrots!!!

When they had the stock tanks, I bought two and got some REALLY funny looks and a whole bunch of people asking what they were. When I told them they were stock tanks I got some really weird looks.

I wish Costco would carry Nutrena products or hay pellets!

Canadian Costcos do not carry half the stuff US Costcos do. I like going but I am getting tired of having to stop at another supermarket to get the stuff I want/need and they do not have.
Absolutely no horse/farm items in ours… dog and cat food I would not feed my pets.
