XC now stands for cross concrete.
I wonder if they will jackhammer the asphalt and make galloping lanes.
Jump a few fences in the arenas, maybe run through a fountain in the infield, cross the track, jump a few fences in the parking lot, jump a few fences around both parts of the turf courses, maybe even use that wooded area immediately to the left of the downhill turf courses, head back into the infield for the finish.
It will be like Devon when the course winds between the two rings, except it will be a bunch of rings and a parking lot with a section of steeplechase.
Iâm still more pissed about the fact that I feel more certain by the day that this is the end for Santa Anita.
well is where Hollywood is so I suspect the XC course will be Holographic using light fields to create a three-dimensional image visual effect that mimics a true XC course
Yeah I was wondering, maybe the surface of that parking lot should come up and be re-done anyway?
Now they can rip it up, make a XC course out of it, then after the Olympics they can dismantle the course and re-pave the lot.
All for one of those profitable Olympic construction contracts that are the real reason the Olympics continues.
Pure speculation here, zero knowledge of the IRL considerations.
Itâs maddening. The Olympics said they were going to work on having fewer one-time use facilities and focus on existing facilities with a legacy impact. We can all see that wonât be the case here.
Im sure the IOC would say they are using existing facilities.
Doesnât racing at Santa Anita run into the Spring. Del Mar is historically run during the summer months, so the race horses will be down south at Olympics time. With only two major tracks in California, how and when would anybody have time to be making major changes to the surfaceâand I imagine that racing contributes more to the stateâs economy than a one-time Olympic event.
Also, remember the changes to the surface for show jumpingâand the horrible consequencesâduring the Olympics in Athens? Does anybody really want to chance that again?
We will if the Stronachâs use this as their excuse to end racing at Santa Anita.
They havenât put in to host any of the upcoming Breedersâ Cups and itâs historically in heavy rotation for hosting.
Itâs too valuable a property to be used just for horse shows. If they end racing there it will end up redeveloped for commercial/residential.
