crotch seam in jeans!ladies only

My friend rides in the Kerritts bootcut riding pants and loves them. Says they wear well, which is good because they are a bit pricey.

The American Spirit Ultimate Riding jean is sanctioned by the AQHA. New inseam stitching technology creates flat, no-rub comfort seams down the inside of the leg panels. Boot-cut leg openings wear perfectly with boots. Traditional five-pocket styling. Comfortable mid-waist rise with a slightly higher back rise to prevent waistband gaps. Button waist and zipper fly. 13-ounce denim with modern American Spirit wash. Made of 100% cotton. Imported.

Diamond Cut jeans were wonderful…small company and made both mens and ladies jeans. Has a gusset in the crotch…so NO seam to rub our “delicate” parts.

I have 3 pair and would never wear anything else to ride…but I outgrew them!!!

Now it seems they only make mens jeans. You can google Diamond Cut and they are on sale at sierra trading post.

Was looking for the link and found these:

Someone else began to produce them and they have ladies!!!

I too have heard the Diamond Gusset jeans are great, from guys, but have never talked to a woman who had them.

I have the same problem with some jeans rubbing. I have found that not arching the back helps, but if you want to stay with jeans try Wrangler Aura (they have some stretch) or Cruel Girl. I like the slimmer cut because it doesn’t twist around as much.

I have the same type. Bought 3 pairs 3 years ago and they are all still going strong. The key is to let them air dry, saves a lot of wear and tear.

ditch the jeans and try some pants actually made for long-distance trail riding. You’ll wonder why you stuck with jeans for so long.[/QUOTE]

i agree with this. I can’t wear jeans on the trail. Riding tights are great./

Thank God I am not the only one with crotch rub!!! hahaha
I thought something was wrong!

I switched to tights/breeches about 7 years ago. I do not know HOW I rode in jeans so long.

OP, the best ones I’ve found for summer are Kerritts Performance riding tights. Very comfy and cool.

If you absolutely HAVE to ride in jeans, Wranglers worked best for me.

This is why breeches and riding pants were invented.

Like “jeano”, I’m a woman of a “certain age” (60+) who rode in jeans years ago, then switched to tights and half chaps, which were easier on the delicate parts. Now I wear breeches for the fit and comfort.

Why do you think they invented jodhpurs?

Not all jeans are created equal. Aura by Wrangler are fine for riding, so are the Diamond Gusset jeans (though they are not flattering, very manly looking).

I am not an endurance rider, but I ride 2 horses every day and have had many issues with being rubbed the wrong way (if you know what I mean)… A few months ago I tried a riding underwear called jellypantz and since then I have not had a single problem… nothing! I don’t think I could ride a horse again without them. I have told a few other people about jellypantz and they really like them too.

I CANNOT ride in jeans with the bulky seam in the crotch. I bought a pair of Wrangler Auras at Tractor Supply and rode for 4 hours without discomfort. I also have a pair of Horsewoman’s spirit jeans, and a few pairs of Ariat riding jeans with NO seam in the crotch. I got the Ariats on sale at a really great price.

I have friends who always wear regular jeans with “the seam” and have no problems but they ride in more of a chair seat and I ride in a balanced seat. Hope you find something that works for you!

I had the same problem to the point of getting irriation rubs so bad that it made going to the rest room very painful. I mentioned it to one of the ladys I ride with that does the 50 mile rides. She gave me a few helpful suggestions that have worked for me.

Ride with a pantyliner or sanitary pad, it can also come in handy on a long trail ride when you find out there is no toilet paper in the bushes. The thickness of the pad puts some distance between you and the inner seams of the jeans.

Wear padded cycling underwear, it helps keep those tender regions padded from rubbing from seams and impacts from a hard saddle.

Of course, she definately recommended switching from jeans to riding breeches not only because of the seam in the crotch, but some of us get rubbed raw on the insides of our legs from the inner seam of some jeans, whereas riding breeches do not have a seam there.

So when I ride with my Western Cowboy friends, I wear “protection” underneath the jeans.

When I ride with my lady friends, I wear Kerrits bootcut or other type of nice stretchy riding breeches.

I ride in jeans often, and they’ve never bothered me. I do buy the ones with a bit of stretch though.

I have ridden in breeches only, since they were pegtopped in the 1960’s, but now I mostly trail ride and am tired of ripping my $$$ breeches on thorns and twigs. And my leather chaps are often too hot for summer riding. So I borrowed a pair of SO’s Levi 501’s. Very comfortable even after 3 hours of riding, and no thorns tear them.

I think it depends on what style fits you. The Levi’s were trés comfortable- even moreso than many of my breeches. But then, I find the modern bellycut style of breeches tend to fall off my hips as they are too big in the “waist” if they fit me in the hips. Nothing like showing a plumber’s crack as you go into two point! I love more traditional styling, including the higher waist and the peg or pleated tops.

I don’t like wearing jeans because it does not grip the saddle just like my riding pants do ( my Arab mare spooks BIG - now training… ). Whenever I need to go through to get ripped apart by thorns, I cover myself with raincoats. Thorns are not able to snatch onto me!

I’m a rerider and I’ve found that for trail riding, the Aura jeans that I think Wrangler makes? are comfortable. I made the mistake of buying a pair without trying them on and learned they are not very true to size at all so you shoulld try them on if you can and not just try one pair and buy four. I think you have to put on all four.

my daughter won’t ride in jeans she likes the look of breechs and tights and the like and she says it’s better for her saddle too.

Genuine mil-spec fatigues as another option.

This discomfort/pain is not limited to women; men also can get
rubbed raw. The 4-way crotch seam is the worst part, but other
seams also. It can happen in some seats, running, walking, etc.

The diamond crotched jeans were mentioned; good to know.
Military Surplus (USA) fatigue pants have a huge crotch-piece
about 20 inches by 6 inches IIRC. They obviously engineered
these pants to relieve chafing when soldiers are walking, so they
might be of use to you also.
Warning some knock-off Military-looking pants have a 4-way
seam in the crotch. Go to a Suplus Store and try on new,
good smelling, mil-spec pants. Oh yeah, check the crotch seam.:slight_smile:

I see at least one horseman who likes them in the

If you guys think this would just transfer the rubbing to lower on
the leg, I would like to hear about it.
