DAD! It's just around the corner ...

So, I thought I’d fire up the ol’ CoTH at DAD Annual G&T party that always seems to not make it!

I dusted off my t-shirt (yes, I still have mine!!!) so I’ll be wearing it.

And I am definately going to attend the Scott Hassler dinner (see below)

Scott Hassler will be the speaker at the Dressage at Devon Forum on Wednesday, September 26, 2007. During The Breeding and Development of the Young Dressage Horse participants will enjoy a brief lecture as well as a lively question and answer discussion session. A buffet dinner will be served.

“We are very excited to have Scott Hassler at Dressage at Devon,” says Melanie Sloyer, Board Member of Dressage at Devon. “Education is an important piece of this event and Scott brings a wealth of knowledge to the forum.”

Hassler, President and Director of Training for Hassler Dressage, brings a wealth of experience to the Dressage at Devon Forum. A veteran of eventing and open show jumping competition, Hassler rode for the early Holsteiner organization in the U.S. as a teenager, preparing horses for auction and sale out of the Holsteiner headquarters in Virginia. As a young adult, Hassler turned his talents, passion and energies to the sport of dressage and warmblood breeding. In Germany, training with the late Herbert Rehbein, he began to understand more deeply the connection between breeding and sport. Returning to the US, Hassler built the breeding program at Hilltop Farm, simultaneously training and developing a dozen horses to Grand Prix. He was listed on the USET’s Short List, and was a finalist for the Pan American Games Selection in 1995.

Hassler created the Young Dressage Horse Trainers Symposium in 2005, is a member of the USEF Dressage Committee and the USEF Breeding Committee, and has chaired the USDF Sporthorse Committee since 2001. His leadership has helped bring about such developments as the sport/breeding related record-keeping system now used in the USDF and USEF. He is the dressage representative for the USEF Strategic Planning Committee, assisting in the long-term planning for the country’s national horse sport organization, as well as the USEF Young Horse Coach.

The Breeding and Development of the Young Dressage Horse Forum will be held in the Devon Room at the 33rd Annual Dressage at Devon Horse Show, on the Devon Horse Show Grounds in Devon, PA. The Forum will begin at 7:00 (doors open at 6:00 pm.). Tickets are $35. For information or to purchase tickets, contact Anne Moss at 610-316-4294 or annemoss@verizon.net.

Dressage at Devon is the highest rated international dressage competition and most complete breed show outside of Europe. Olympic medalist Robert Dover calls Dressage at Devon “the standard by which all American horse shows should be judged.” Dressage at Devon takes place at the Devon Horse Show Grounds, Route 30, in Devon, Pennsylvania.

Yep. And would you believe that I have some people asking to be stabled in the ‘2005 COTH barn’ So that’s what I put in the stabling requests I sent to Walt.

I still have my t-shirt too and a competitor from Florida asked if there was anything she could bring me. I told her to bring the limes!:D:yes::eek::smiley:

I haven’t been on the property, but I’ve been told that the electric in the barns has been worked on and a few more barns have been renovated. So if you see any of the Devon Horse Show Foundation people, remember to thank them. They’re trying really hard.

Wishing everyone a safe and fun filled show.

We cannot do the dinner because we are showing Hot Shot( pony stallion) in hand, under saddle and in the DSHB championships, and My broodmare and maiden mare in their calsses and the DSHB Championships… SO this is 8 classes on Wednesday starting at 11 AM… but we are looking forward to living in the COTH barn again!!! we had a blast last year ( and we DID have an AWESOME party BTW), WHERE were you???

the Yeagermeister is already in the freezer!!

Unable to attend.

This year, Mr. Joey Starbuck (aka the Poster Boy) will be attending, UNDER SADDLE!!! OMGiH. I have entered Mr. Joey in the 3-year old Colts and Geldings, Materiale and Suitability. Mr. Tchula will be attending with his Mama. He is in the 2007 Colt class. Ms. Christine Smith is handling. I believe we will be on the road again by Tuesday evening, e.g., it’s a one-shot deal.

Abode: we’ll be staying at the PEAK of CHIC establishment, yes,… MOTEL 6!!! Monday night.

Monday night: G&T’s near the Secretary’s stand. Lori, what time does the Secretary’s Office close? Will you and Mr. LoriK attend, if we can manage to get our act together?

Who’s bringing chips & guac?

Oh MagicRose I feel so bad for you all those DSHB Championship classes…you poor thing… I am coming with 8 horses. Look for the lady with the “deer in the headlights” expression. It will either be you or me!

Ah, that would be me. It wasn’t really out of nostalgia over the COTH 05 party though, I just liked that barn’s proximity to the exhibitor’s entrance(easier to get in and out for my multiple during the night checks) and because the stalls are a little bigger than those itsy bitsy 9X9s that are in the big barns by the carnival area. I’d have to grease my mare and baby up to fit them in one of them. I didn’t know what that barn by the Gold Ring’s number was so that’s why I put the 2005 COTH Barn. I didn’t show in 2006 so I don’t know if COTH people were in the same place last year or not.

Not that I wouldn’t be up for another COTH party mind you…

I will be there Tuesday to help one of my clients with the colt she bought from us, and then be there showing our own(a 2 year old filly and her dam and 2007 colt) on Wednesday and Thursday.

Um that will be YOU “dear”… I have only 5 horses total!!

Would a couple of new guys be invited if they bring G and food in hand? Would love to meet you.Peg

Peg,
The more the merrier!

I’m coming, but this year I am only bringing 2…I went crazy last year with so many. Well crazier, lol.

Only two limes? Or two bowls of Guac? Or two bags of chips? If only two limes,… sorry, that won’t cut it. (;))

Hey Peg, if you’re bringing G … well, shucks, … you’re going to be welcome with open arms!!!

I have another question-are grills allowed anywhere incase we’d like to do that another night?Don’t know the regs. See you there. To me, Devon is akin to Disneyworld! Peg

Well, I may be talked into bringing some vino…any takers…and red or white?

I’ll be there Wed-Thurs. Showing a colt in ISR/OLD2 & under and Arab IBC’s.
Meeting with friends Wed evening for a much needed “fun night out”. I need some fun after the year I have had.
My old name is banned, so I am here now through another very old name I forgot I even had.

Do they have the day sheets for the breed show online yet? I looked and couldn’t find them, but thought they’re usually up by now.

I won’t be showing this year (trust me, I’d rather be showing… I’m scheduled for minor surgery on Thursday- ironically probably about the same time I’d be showing if I was going… I guess there was a reason for not showing this year), but may go to watch on Wed… not sure yet.

Anyway… good luck to all the competitors and I hope everybody has a wonderful time! I’m certainly going to miss not showing this year… there’s just something about Devon - the tradition, the atmosphere, the thought of all the great horses that have been there… it’s just magical to me! When my boy won his class… wow… I was just on cloud nine- still my favorite horse show memory!

Be on the lookout for an ultra cute Welsh pony stallion- Fox Cry Nicodemus!:cool::cool::cool::cool:

So… everybody… have fun!

The day sheets (order of go) will be posted on www.dressageatdevon.org after the drop dead date of 9/15. The class schedule is already on the website.

We’d love to be part of the whole thing but a wedding takes precedence this year. The groom is headed to Afghanistan after the wedding so we really have to celebrate properly. Well, we would celebrate anyway…Happy trails everyone!!!

I’m just wiggling with excitement! This will be my trainer’s first Devon and I think she’s going to be blown away with the wonderful atmosphere … and all the wonderful people there. Elly … I noticed you’re going to be there. So is Pete Ruig et al. Marydell, you’re coming. Fairview … I didn’t see your name, but heck, there were 15 pages of entries!!! HOLY SMOKES!! 403 entries … Joey’s number is 230, so if you see him in the ring give a good old CoTH cheer (woot woot woot )

Anyone else know their number???

I just have a mare this year - as long as I can get her there. <sigh> Looking forward to seeing everyone!

Hi OMOM,

Yep, we’ll be there - I always enjoy Devon, especially the breedshow !!!

Can’t wait - anyone know what the weather is going to be like, this time - will I need my Scuba gear again ???

Best of Luck to all !

Elly
