I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that I will not be surprised if CH does indeed appear in the U.S. for the selection trials.

I hope she will. Ultimately, I hope she doesn’t overface her horse and keeps within his limits.
Regardless, I received a request for sponsorship last night from USET Foundation, and I wrote them a comfortable check this morning. Although — after all the deductions and devaluation of the US Dollar, maybe it’ll only be a cup of coffee in the riders’ hands some early morning and an apple or two in their pockets.
Best of luck to all the riders on the team, whoever they will be. I trust every last one of them will do right by their horses, and that’ll keep me happy —medal or not. (Good thing, because I’m thinking like Coreene re medals)
Focus on medals today or medals tomorrow

Hong Kong by Night Benefit raises $500,000
The United States Equestrian Team (USET) Foundation has announced that “Hong Kong by Night,” a benefit held on February 8, 2008, at International Polo Club in Wellington, Florida, raised $500,000. Generous supporters contributed to the effort by purchasing tables for the dinner and by bidding on three once-in-a-lifetime trip packages in a live auction. Proceeds from the evening will benefit the U.S. equestrian teams competing in the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.
no, my donation is towards a different promotion, towards all the USET riders in the Olympics and World Championships…
For what it’s worth, I was informed in the promotion all the USET medals won in total:
38 Olympic medals
51 World Championship medals
73 Pan Am medals
Still about the Olympics and striving towards excellence: so hold onto that striving towards excellence and try for it honorably with respect to the horse, yes? The medals are nice but perhaps not in the dressage cards right now.
EDITED TO ADD: I think the first tier for donations is $35 dollars, so anyone can send this amount or smaller and be thanked for it.
