Day Trip Places to Trail Ride in Georgia/E Alabama

We went to Boundary Waters today and had a great time. My horse did not like the covered bridge but other than that the trails were great! I hope we can all meet and ride. Now that I am driving our trailer I plan on going out ALOT and will need buddies!

Until I get my trailer, SNF, you’re welcome to visit and ride the SCT with me

Ok Choco mare I would love to! PS I think we might use the same vet!

Well come on then. The weather is perfect!

Oh I love Dr. Rose! It’s never just a “vet” visit when she comes. We wind up chatting about the latest news, “have you read’s”, etc. Quite the lady

Hi guys -

Im in the Northeast side of GA. We have lot’s of trails up this way. In Dahlonega, there’s Jake’s mountain/Bull mountain, all the same really but you could ride for day’s and day’s. Nice trails. Up in Clayton (Rabun County) we have Willis Knob, which is the best place to go when it’s mid summer. You stay in the tree’s and down by the river most of the time, a bit cooler and you can ride 7 hours EASY, also have camping with water/electric. There’s Currahee Mountain (Frady Branch) in Toccoa Ga. If you guy’s ever come up this way, let me know, I’d love to meet up with you and ride some.

The weather is going to be gorgeous this week, hope we get some riding time in.

Georgia Trails-Once I am more confident driving a trailer I would love to come ride with you. I lack a riding partner since I keep my horses at home. My husband rides with me Sunday’s but that he all he wants to do. So I need to find more people.

Count me in this year! Hugo and I will make our trail debut!

I really like Jake and Bull.

I have ridden the Chattahoochee River Club-once you get through the neighborhood it can be nice and not very difficult.

I am SO excited for this year-I have been WAITING on Hugo to get old enough to do this.

My little 15.3h tank is gonna be my kickyourarab arse trail horse!

I just have to get him over his fear of leaving home first!!!

Oh great! I can’t wait to see Hugo!!! and you, again, of course

I am so excited that you have wheels!

Oh me too. I can’t wait to bring my trailer home! I’m actually waiting on some In-Progress pictures from the plant. Should be about another three weeks till it’s done.

It’s the EquiBreeze by the fine folks at EquiSpirit: http://www.equispirit.com/info/used_horse_trailers_breeze.html - while the pics here show a BP, mine is a gooseneck with dressing room.

Hey, are we going to have christining of the new trailer??? I’ll bring sparkling grape juice…you can smack it across the “bow”…lol…

gosh I love those new trailer smells…too bad all I can do is smell them, not own them!!!

Hey Spotnnotfarm - you aren’t that far from me…wanna trail ride some?

Bunches of trails listed here; http://www.n-georgia.com/horsebac.htm

That’s a great idea! I heard from my contact today…the estimated completion date is March 19th. If it happens, we’ll go up to NC that Friday evening, stay overnight and then pick it up/head home Saturday.

Soooo, plan on the following Saturday for Christening Day!

I’ll keep ya’s posted.

Sidepasser- I would love to ride with you sometime. Where are you located?

Hi Spotnotfarm - I am in LaGrange, GA. It takes me about an hour to get to Carrollton pulling my trailer.

sponnotfarm - you can come ride anytime. I’ll post some of our upcoming rides once they’re more concrete. Since the weather is starting to get warm now - we can all meet up and ride. We ride every week if the weather co-operates.

I know there is a Trail Horse Challenge in Banks County on April 4th if anyone is interested. They are very fun and benefits go to needy families. I won 1st place last year  out of 34 I think. They are fun to watch as well. If anyone wants info, email me.

Right now I am recovering from the flu and broncitiuts(sp?) But I would love to meet you middle of the month. Where do you ride?

Christina

If someone is coming from a little ways to ride this way, I can always provide an overnight stall:)

Sorry to hear your sick with the flu - I know several people that have had that and it takes a while to re-coop.

We ride Jake’s Mtn, Currahee Mtn in Toccoa a lot, and are trying to find some places in Tennessee to go camping on the weekends that are only a few hours away. We go to Clayton Ga and camp and ride on Willis Knob trails which are wonderful to ride. Nice trails!!

McIntosh trails

I finally made it to McIntosh yesterday. My training buddy and I were getting a little bored with Boundary Waters so we ventured to new trails. It was a little slick and some rocks on the trails so we took it slow (we both have barefoot horses and it was too wet for boots), but we had a great time. We were the only riders, but saw a few campers and a group of people putting canoes in the “Hooch”. It was fun to try some new trails. I cannot believe it has taken me so long to get over to McIntosh… it’s only like 30 minutes from my house!

Chocomare - I haven’t seen an update… do you have your trailer yet?
