Look here at places to ride for information & directions
Perfecto! Thanks
If you know of more places let me know. We will post it on our site.
We specificillay look for places that are open for day rides, camping is a plus. We would like them to be near central GA. So tell us about Aabama, N. Florida etc
A poster on Horsecity.com’s trail forum reports that she rode at Boundary Waters on Saturday. However, they didn’t trailer in… they get into the park from a neighboring friend’s farm, sooooo I’m not sure if she should have been in there.
I just sent off a new e-mail to the park’s manager for confirmation, though. I’ll keep ya’s posted.
Reply from Mr. Trent, Boundary Waters Park Manager:
We have not opened the trails yet but hopefully we can at least open some of them this week? We are planning to at least open the parts that have not taken any damage, but keep the sections closed that are going to need more work and fence those areas off.
I will be sending out a notice either tomorrow or Wednesday on the county website but they will not be open until then.
That is good to know. I need to drive down 166 and see if it is still closed over the dog river. I am hoping McIntosh will open soon. My stepbrother works there now so he is keeping me posted. On a happy note I am attending my first meeting with the Heard County saddle club tomorrow and will know more about the rules for using their trails. Will let ya’ll know!
Yes, it’s still closed. I did some hoof care work for a lady in West Newnan and then headed over to Sharpsburg. Saw the road still blocked/closed. Not to mention the bridge that crosses it is gone, totally gone. They have to build a new one and that’ll take the next 8 - 12 months.
Just spoke to McIntosh, They are now saying the best case is the park will re-open at the first of the year! The park is continuing to flood due to the heavy rains.
When I heard about tonight’s/tomorrow’s heavy rain, I suspected that McIntosh would do this.
I’m probably riding at Kennesaw this Saturday with another friend, Sherry. However, I have Sunday afternoon open if you wanna come ride the SCT with me again. It’s reopened in my portion, so we can go the other direction or farther west. Plus, since it’s still closed from Hiram, there is MUCH less cycle traffic
I am also in LaGrange, GA.
This year has been a bust for us trail riding. Husband is getting over quintuple bypass surgery so he’ll be ready to ride by the time the trails are to slick & wet.
Don’t forget Daucett closes Oct 1 nd remains closed through hunting season.
Our saddle club has been doing some private property rides lately. Thus weekend at Steve Montgomery’s. He has loads of trails suitable for buggies and riders.
Hopefully we will be riding at Flanders (Spalding Co) soon.
I think we are working on something at a private hunting preserve in Perry
I usually keep our website pretty well updated, but for obvious reasons it has been ignored lately.
This just hit Craig’s List
