They just posted this on their social media today, they now have a new option where the saddle can be made out of cork leather instead of animal hide leather. They claim it’ll be an option available for all their saddles. Theoretically it should make for a light weight saddle. It’s the best non-leather choice one could make, it’s a strong material that supposedly holds up well, it’s naturally water resistant, you don’t need to clean it with soaps you would just wipe it off with a rag and it will kind of break in and age visually like leather does. I know there are companies that make traditional leather goods like bags and wallets out of the material now.
If anyone has a chance to see one in person, please report back on how it feels! Also super curious to find out what it costs, someone on facebook asked if it would be cheaper and Devoucoux told them their local rep could help them with pricing which I assume means “no we’re going to charge more because it’s special” or something.
I anticipate much skepticism until they sponsor someone who can validate how it holds up.
