Did a horse die at Clinton Anderson's ranch?
Well, somebody has mastered the multi-quote post! :)…I’ve been here for ages and still don’t have a clue how to use it!
Somebody has no life on a Friday night

trubandloki explained the multi-quote thing in Post #80 on this thread! It SO delivers!

Just sorry that there had to be a dead horse involved.

Isn’t that a Merle Haggard song?

Hmmmm

:D
Are you sure you didn’t do it?

now THAT’S an impressive amount of quotes!

Record?

Hey, at least you got the gist fairly quickly. Bluey had to walk me through about five times or so. Finally, I got it right by happenstance. Kudos to you!!

What a hilarious thread this has been!

I’ve known a few Friesians and Friesian crosses. Yes, they can overheat. No, they are not good endurance race prospects, never mind what Andy Garcia said about them in the movie “For Greater Glory”.

They have smaller lungs and hearts relative to their size than other horses. I don’t know if that’s because of the inbreeding or if they were that way before they almost went extinct. Being black and hairy doesn’t help either.

If the CA program is so tough that the ordinary horse loses lots of weight, it’s quite possible that it was too much for this Friesian. Anyone working with Friesians must be aware of their special needs and physical limitations. They are not Quarter Horses.

I think the Cray Cray lady picked the wrong program for her horse.

I don’t think we can say he does one method for all horses. We just don’t know, unless someone on here has sent their horse to him that was not a qh or paint. The death of this horse could completely be no ones fault at all. I’ve known 2 horses in the past few years that were under the age of 8 fall over dead from a “heart attack” standing In the pasture not even been ridden in weeks. It happens and without a necropsy it’s all speculation and i don’t think it’s fair to either party
to speculate what happen. CA has worked with other breeds, heck he even worked with I believe it was Stephen bradley’s event horse before. Does he train his students on different breeds? Idk but it’d be interesting to know facts.

An old method that is called “tying low” would be one where the head was tied down to one foreleg, which is what I wonder if was not what was done here?

Horse should not have been left like that or even left hobbled. Doesn’t matter about owner/him, matters that horse died that shouldn’t have.

I also didn’t like where he said no one was allowed to come with owner when went for their day long lesson with the student, as they might see things they couldn’t understand?

And not graining at all until 2 weeks have passed, and even then not if horse was not mentally ready, or too hot? Bothers me.

I actually was on side of this being a sad accident, until I read what he had posted on his blog, now taken down, and that changed my mind.

Elsewhere there are people coming forwards with their own horror tales of things they’ve seen done by him. And dead horses too are being talked about.

For years, Shirley Roth and Cleve Wells were well known for killing horses and abusing horses. It wasn’t until last year or so that that has finally caught up with them. Are there others? Yes. Is CA one? I think so.

Is owner out there? Most definitely. But horse still didn’t deserve this.

I also question the amount of horses he says will get galled. That is a hole in the program.

And if he knows there are horses that are not good fit for the programs, he should not take them, period.

He is one of the people I am always being told about who says “there is no untrainable horse”, and being called a “kind, gentle trainer.”

As for his Signature Horses being trained for performance events? Do any of them do well in those events once purchased by another, or for that matter, do they do well under CA?

I just keep thinking of that poor horse.

Heh, overly impassioned about something I can do nothing about. So, never mind and please, carry on. HA!!

CA bred this horse-

So I’d say his program is doing OK, as far as producing some decent reiners.

I was just thinking that SF rides some CA horse(s), so, I guess that part must be doing fine. I’m pretty sure I’ve read some big names buy CA’s horses. His breeding program seems to be fine, it’s the rest of it which bothers me.

THIS Shirley Roth?? She sounds like a real winner also…

I was replying to this-

I’d think it’d be hard to be out there seriously showing his reiners and keep the NH empire running. But I do know he has shown and won and sold well-started prospects to others who have been out there winning too quickly for them to have needed a total training overhaul.

Whatever his faults, he has some nice reiners.
I was replying to this-
Yes, but it implies he trained the horse and there is nothing on the page that indicates he trained the horse at all (or even bred him). I have no doubt he breeds some fine horses, but I’ve never heard of any that he trained being up there in the standings. Have no idea if they could or not. Just have never heard of any.

I couldn’t find a show record for him, but, I’m fairly sure he has shown. His showing rings a bell for me, like reiners somewhere.
I’m fairly sure he has shown.
Oh, yea, I know he’s shown. I’ve also seen some horses he owned being shown by others. What reining shows has he won? Just curious as to who his competition was …

Well, the video I posted of him winning at the NRBC would be one.

figure that out
Does not mean the horse had not a screw lose.

Oh come on, it takes three months to figure out a horse has a screw loose, really ?? And at a famous (just ask him) trainers ranch ? Now I suppose we will blame the ‘associate’ trainer who didn’t see this problem…hmmmm, just who is responsible for hiring them??

Look Folks, I know someone who worked for Clinton the Ass for two years and YES, YES, YES, he DOES abuse, overwork and overheat horses… ALL THE TIME. Many many MANY horses have died under his supposed “care”… From someone who worked for him, right from their mouth, he ties horses in their stalls all night with no room to move, many times will not allow them any water, rides them real hard and then ties them for hours in the sweltering heat. He has no compassion for animals OR people at all… can’t you tell that from the letter he wrote? Anyone who has the attitude that “Hey, shit happens, horses die, get over it”…shouldn’t be able to train horses at all, in my opinion… This is NOT a once in a great while thing folks…this happens on a VERY regular basis… His employees are threatened that if they ever EVER say anything about what they see at his barn they will be SUED. He lets them know he has way more money and better lawyers than them so they will NOT win… This is a problem that needs to be investigated. The question is HOW. I’m pretty sure the local vet makes a lotta money off CA, so he probably won’t spill his guts… I’d be interested to know how many people out there have lost their horses to Clinton over the years…Hmmmm… think I see a new Facebook Page in the works… And to those who say, “well he warned her the horse might die”, yeah well my mother warned me my eyes might stick if I crossed them too… I doubt the woman took him seriously and I doubt he said it seriously either… I challenge him to make that his business motto… "Clinton Anderson: Horse Trainer, “I’ll train your horse for you…It may die, and you may lose your horse, but hey, I like money, so pay me for a chance your horse will come out of my training alive.”

And we have a houseguest!!!

Yay, I get to be the first one to point it out! Lol

Just when we thought this thread was winding down.

House guests, start your engines!
