I hope there us more focus on the horses.
So far I’d say it sucks, but I’d expect nothing less of NBC. I think they’re switching to golf here at 11:30. Typical.

What are they showing there??!
So far, I’ve been satisfied. Good camerawork, basic, digestible explanations of reining scoring and performance for a diverse viewing audience (I know very little about reining).
Equestrian sports are never going to be a big draw on a major network. We’ll always be wedged in at off-prime hours between other sports that draw larger audiences.
Watching now. I’m just excited to see horses on TV. I also commented to hubby that I’m happy to also see the commercials too- horseyish and not just ‘regular’ ones.
Same thing as every other National NBC affiliate. They set out a block and that’s all you get on TV. After that, it’s the streaming packages.
We were supposed to get it on NBC, it was on the cable channel guide, but, instead, we get a recap of the Tennessee Vols, who don’t even play here.
NOT on HERE!
 nope The Entertainers is on despite Equestrian listed in the local paper.
oh crap it’s the sit down and angry write time - been there, done that before and never received any acknowledgement!! Total ignore. Bad NBC to ignore their market and not insist on the publicly announced schedule to be run nationally.
I haven’t seen any of the NBC coverage so far,all of what i’ve watched has been on the USEF network website
I’m loving the coverage here - plus the horsey commercials! Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale commercial made me rage a little though, if only because I can’t get it here and I do love it so. I’m thrilled it’ll be on next weekend too - although by then I’ll be there live and in person!
Watched Bold for a bit which had great coverage, but idiot announcers. Switched to NBC, partly because I like the schmaltzy american ads
Could have lived without the negative comparisons to dressage on both channels
I thought it was pretty good overall. It seemed that they used a very similar format to what they use for the Olympics. Obviously they can’t show every round, but they seemed to do a good job selecting some big names that stand out, and had good explanations for those who are not well versed in the sport.
The Milwaukee affiliate didn’t show it here. Luckily I can get Madison sometimes. I just wish I could see more than 8 rounds in an hour and a half.
Thoroughly enjoyed the reining coverage today. (Reiners sure have changed since back in the dark ages when I piddled around with it.) Thought the commentator did a good job. Loved all the horsey commercials! Should be coverage next Sunday of dressage.
Just emailed my local affiliate to thank them for their WEG coverage. It is, after all, a Sunday and I think sort sort of ball game is often played on Sunday!
I watched the full reining coverage on FEI TV streamed to my HD flatsceen. Quality was surprisingly GOOD!!!
Then saw the NBC ‘Highlights’ package and can see why you are disappointed.
Sucked??? How so???
Seriously, I thought it was pretty good. I used to do Reining a little and still have friends in the Working/Reined Cow Horse and SBF arenas.
I thought they did a nice job explaining what viewers were seeing and where those pluses or minuses were coming from. nice background on the riders…I did NOT know Anky was a convert and it was fun to see some tape of her working a pattern.
I also thought they did a nice job promoting the other events and previewing what we would be seeing next Sunday on the main NBC telecast.
Certainly alot better then the Opening Ceremony mish mash my NBC affiliate ran live last night.
Oh…since when did they start playing loud music during a pattern? Or is that just at the WEG…not like anybody is going to fall asleep amid the hoots and whistles. That would drive me nuts as a rider.
I was flitting between the streaming coverage and the TV coverage. Glad to see any sort of horse thing on TV. What I saw was better than average (read TV horse racing). At least the commentators knew something about the sport. All set up with the streaming coverage at Universal Sports so can hardly wait.
I enjoyed the reining but hoped for a bit more than a dash of the endurance. Would have been fun to see gear from around the world, the various horses, but they only showed the merest glimpse of the start, and a glimpse of a vet check.
I love reining but even I can only watch so many run downs and rollbacks.
Where/what is Universal Sports and what do I have to do to join?
Is there a reason to think it will be better than the USEF Network live streaming?
Thanks.
Well, the Endurance was only just completing the first loop of 5 and it probably would have taken a helicopter to get any meaningful footage-and that from a distance.
I’ll take what I can get on a major network.
Yah know, it is up to the local NBC affiliate what they pick up from the network in non prime time hours. They base that on what their local advertisers will pay money to run their ads in…and that is based on ratings of similar past programs. I have no doubt the only reason it’s on here is the KHP is only 70 miles south and the locals have watched similar in the past.
