Dish shaped profiles in TB's: are there certain lines that produce this?

I thought that the Arab dish-shaped profile had pretty much been bred out of the TB. However, I’ve seen a few who have a very dainty Araby head, ones that are definitely full TB due to the JC tatoo…

Are there certain lines that are known for producing this? Anyone else seen this ?

Hoist The Flag lines…my US Flag mare and her daughter both have dishy little heads

My Favorite Trick gelding has a very dishy face.

I have this mare.

http://www.pedigreequery.com/run+tuesday

She has what is known in the arabian world as a jibbah. Big jowl, big dish, teeny tiny nose and chin.

I figure there is extra room in there for her brains. She is very smart but sometimes a bit silly. And . . . she lives and loves to JUMP!

Oh and she is qualified for the AECs!

My TB mare - Tomorrow’s Cat/Pleasant Colony - has a dish-ish face - not pronounced, but not straight either

I have a mare with a very dishy face, and she does have Hoist the Flag in her dam line.

Here’s a photo.

And here’s her pedigree:

Basque has a dish and larger eyes, daintier muzzle. No Hoist the Flag in his
background, though.

My other OTTB has a Roman nose…Bold Ruler background.

Back in the late 80’s I groomed a 12 yr old gelding named Standup Comedian by Shecky Green who was a sprinter in the early 70’s. Comedian was a little (15.2ish) “white” grey that was so dainty & dishy he looked like an Arab. Prettiest TB I ever groomed.

Yep, my TB mare has a very nice head and she is double Hoist The Flag (top and bottom).

I also had a mare by Notebook with this

I have one who has that dishy face (and definitely the bulge between the eyes - jibbah). A little longer in the had than some Arabs, but definitely a dish. She has Damascus (Same as the pedigree above)

We had a mare with a beautiful dished head. She also reproduced it in several of her foals. This is her pedigree: http://www.pedigreequery.com/hot+weekend

I have this OTTB

Most people think he is at least an Anglo, if not full Arab when they first see him. His face is only slightly dished but is very fine and chiseled.

Here are 2 pix of my horse, Blue, and 2 pix of his sire Darn That Alarm

No Hoist The Flag. Don’t know where DTA got the head but he passed it along to many of his get. He sired a LOT of successful steeplechasers. I’ve seen several of them race and they look like cookie cutters…

My dearly departed gelding was by Favorite Trick out of a Pleasant Colony mare, and he had a very dishy face. He looked like an overgrown Arab.

It’s things like the reappearance of the dishy face that makes the TB always possible for good sport horses, thanks to the limited genetic soup.

That’s very interesting, since mine is out of a PC mare as well.

We have one that has a pretty dishy face for a TB.

We’re practically related!

My mare’s damsire is Storm Bird, with Mr. Prospector on the top, she has a lovely dishy face and has passed it on to all three of her foals she has had for me. There is no doubt when you walk down the barn aisle and see these faces that they are related! Her sire (Canvas by Mr.P) also has a beautiful head.

Yes, very interesting. My mare has PC 4 generations back on her dam’s side.

My gelding out of a PC mare has the most un-dished head you’ll ever see. It’s long and borderline roman. He also has HTF, through his sire, Personal Flag.

Picture added as proof.
