Never have successfully found a good sizing chart. Need to order some and don’t want to have to order and then mail back if they don’t fit. There aren’t any tack stores nearby where I could even try them on for size
I find they run true to size.
They run true to size
Very good! Which ones seem to be the most popular these days? I notice that they are all low rise now but I am having trouble deciding which style to get.
If your body is ruler-shaped, they run true to size. If not, they run very very small. I am a 28 or 30 in most breeches, but I had to get a 34 in TS, and even then they are my barely breathin’ breeches. I have one pair that I got on consignment and I despise them. No stretch, tight in weird places, short, waist is too high…bleh. Will never buy any more TS.
I would agree with chestnuthunters’s description, but only for the older styles of Tailored’s. The Trophy’s have much more give and a normal rise. I can barely, barely fit into my old 28s (like won’t wear them they are so tight), but the trophy 28s are even a little big. The low rise are not crazy low.
I’ll be honest I’m no longer a big fan of TS breeches. I love the ones I had from a few years ago, but I don’t like the new fabric or how they changed the fit to incorporate the euro seat.
I use my old ones to school in and I went with some different brands for show breeches this year.
They do run true to size though.
I find the trophy hunters to fit very differently from their other models. The 26R trophy hunters fit me perfectly but in the other styles I wear a 28 and even that is a bit tight.

Sounds like mine are the older style then. I really wanted to like Tailored’s. Perhaps I can make it to Dover sometime soon and try on some of the Trophy’s to compare. As tight as mine are, they do look nice.
I wear a 28R in “The TS” and when I bought a 28R in the TS Trophy Hunter they were pretty big. The 26R fits me perfectly. If it helps I am just under 5’5 and weigh approx 130-135 lbs

I had this experience too. You might have gotten an older pair of 2x stretch breeches vs the newer trophy hunter which is a 4 way stretch. The pair I got on consignment were marked a 28 but wore like a 20. I couldn’t get into them because they had no give (I’m also nearly positive they were mismarked but that’s another story). The 4 way stretch makes a huge difference. I love the Trophy Hunters for that reason.
I find the trophy hunters to run true to size. I have never tried the other styles. They do come in a medium rise waist if you want to stay clear of the low rise stuff. I own both rises, and they both fit me equally as well. I am 5’8 and 140 pounds. The 30 long breeches fit me well (but I like my breeches on the looser side). I can also fit into the 28 longs, but they are a bit tighter than I like. I am in the process of slowly converting all my breeches to tailoreds. They fit me better than most other brands I’ve tried, and last a long time. I have a very small waist, so I have a difficult time finding breeches that don’t gap in waist, and still fit my legs.
I have the Trophy Hunters and they run very true to size! I am absolutely in love with them… they wear so well and are so flattering!
I’m pretty sure I have the TS trophy hunter (low-rise/euro seat). And I think they run true to size but are great if you need a little extra stretch at certain times of the month
I have the TS cotton schooling breeches and I think they run true to size - I wear a child’s 12 and my jeans are 00 short, so I think that’s roughly comparable.
I love the TS low rise style 1967. I find they fit me well but are a touch big in the waist. I’m a 30 is TS as well as Elation and Tuff Rider so I find they run pretty true to size. I’m slowly replacing all my breeches with TS 1967’s as well. They are super flattering on me.

Yep, you can’t compare the older style to the new four way stretch. The fit is completely different.
I’m a 26 in the newer four way stretch and am a 28 in regular pants and most other breeches (Ariat, etc.) I couldn’t squeeze into a 28 in the older Tailored Sportsmans if my life depended on it. Tiny waist, baggy thighs.
I bought a pair of trophy hunters a few months ago. I wear a 24 in jeans, but the 24 breeches were too big. The kids 16 worked out okay, but I really wish they had a 22 in women’s because I am not built like a kid - I have hips! So, I’m going to agree that the newer style runs big. I do like them a lot though.
I’d say they run pretty true to size or a tad big. I have “The TS” in low rise/side zip and the Trophy Hunter mid-rise. The 30 in both fit me well and I’m 5’7", 160 (mostly butt & thighs!).
I’ve tried on a bunch of brands and finally had to admit that I’m just a TS body. The Equine Couture and Tredsteps were a horrible fit on me – too-tight legs if the waist fit, super baggy waste if the legs fit.
Ditto the “don’t compare to the older style.” Got a pair of those on eBay and … all wrong.
They run true to size for me everywhere but the waist. I have normal thighs and a round ahem butt (Not Kim Kardashian round though) and I always get a huge gap in the waist area that makes it hard to tuck my shirts in, even with a belt.
