Do We Have a 2020 "Two Week Wait" Thread Yet?

I looked but didn’t see one; my apologies if this is a duplicate. I know we used to do these all the time. So in that spirit…

I swear that the two weeks between breeding and that first ultrasound are the longest two weeks of my life. Well, it’s a toss up between then and the last two weeks before foaling, I guess. :lol: My new broodmare is tentatively scheduled to be checked on Friday. I’m itching for the news for lots of reasons this time around. One is that I want to get the mare safely settled in foal so I can get her shipped from AZ to TN before the weather gets unbearably hot. Another is that this foal will be a full sibling to my little palomino Sydney (photo attached), who is shaping up to be the best-minded young horse I’ve ever ridden.

Anyone else waiting as anxiously as I am? Or already have mares confirmed in foal this spring?

We are just finishing round two of breeding Ragdoll, my Hanoverian who can be a wee bit difficult to get in foal. I’m already anxious, and I can’t start counting the days until we have confirmed ovulation, which will happen tomorrow, I hope.

I just bred my RID mare to Escher DFEN, for a hopeful sporthorse… she gets checked in nine days. Time is running at a standstill!

Have 4 in the oven, safely over 70 days. Waiting for preg check on Moms Image on Thursday, and breeding Bodacious Barb tomorrow. Mom’s Image caught on her first cycle in February, but unfortunately slipped around 35-40 days (after 25d heartbeat check). She took a while to cycle back in, persistent CL, but fingers crossed she catches and then will start Regumate this time.

Just one this year, and after this season’s tragic outcome, I honestly debated…

That being said, my 15yo maiden Widmark mare is confirmed in foal to Landkoenig for a Mar 2021 Hanoverian foal.
Fingers crossed she keeps it and all goes smoothly this time around.

Good luck, @Justice! Sometimes the crazy long shots work out - I mean, pretty much never for me, but for other people. Lol.

My mare goes back on the 8th for a 30-ish day heartbeat check; then I’ll just have one more hurdle (a 45-60 day check) before I can book a shipper and finally get my hands on her!

Good luck to you all! I have my Knabstrupper mare getting check on the 15th. I’m SO hoping she’s in foal otherwise this is going to be so much $$$. The stallion, Elliot, is a gelding now so there’s no live foal guarantee when there’s only so many straws left.

@Justice, this will be my mare’s 4th foal (I have a two-year-old filly who is a full sister to the current embryo, which is why I bought the mare), and she has a very good reproductive history, so I don’t anticipate any trouble. Shipping cross country is always a bit nerve-wracking, though.

That wait for the preg check or embryo flush does feel like eterinity sometimes. Our first two mares were open and we started early and already to their 60-day check: Desperado x HPM Relevè HTF/Royal Prince and George Clooney x Unicum-D (aka Uforia)/Negro. Our older mare Nabou is an ET donor only and has not been super cooperative this year so definitely need jingles for her next flush on this coming Wednesday. One mare bred early this week and another yesterday so on the 2-week wait for both of them.

5 of 6 mares done. Bodacious Barb scanned in foal to St Patrick’s Day. Problem mare Mom’s Image was bred again to Saketini this morning. Really hope this one sticks, it’s getting late in the season for us and if rather not be foal watching all the way into June!
